Ovidiu Zimcea – Street Fighter

Track description: “I wanted to make a narrative track inspired by a gig I had that was cut short due to the police coming to shut it down. The track initially started as part of a jam I recorded on a Korg Little Bits set. The oriental glitch part that comes in after half time got really stuck in my head for about a week after that so I decided to give it more context and make it the culminating point of a thick track that breaks up in three acts.”

About Ovidiu Zimcea

Started making music for film in 2007, at first for short film and later for features, live performances and contemporary dance. Gradually narrowed the stylistic approach for my live act to electronica with hints of post-rock trip-hop and R&B. Was formerly in Paperjam and Exit Oz, with which I’ve recorded the debut EP and LP, respectively, the latter being considered one of the important albums to come out of Romania in the 2010s as it was received especially well by critics and audiences alike. In 2016 and 2017 I was part of Alexandrina’s live band for her 10 year anniversary tour. Was invited to open for Nadja, Aidan Baker, Tibi Pin, Minus, Aleksa Alaska, BAB, The Best Bad Trip and The Egocentrics. A debut LP is currently in the works and will be released in early 2020.

Al’iikhwa Ra – VARA

Track description: “As the name suggests, the track VARA was composed during a hot Bucharest summer day by pouring into the DAW melting pot techno beats, oriental musical phrases and raw modular drones and glitches.”

About Al’iikhwa Ra

Under the name Al’iikhwa Ra (Ra Brothers), Andrei Raicu and Alexandros Raptis manage to explore the convergence between Oriental/ World Music, Techno and Dance Music through the use of modular synthesis and traditional instruments in their live sets.
Having a background in Theatre Directing they often work with visual artists, to create immersive performances.
Working as sound designers for several theatre and dance performances and collaborating with cultural institutions such as CNDB, Arcub, ColectivA, Fabrica de Pensule and several other theatres from Romania, the two artists decided that their interest for glitches, bleeps, buttons, patch cables, modular synthesis, and DIY education are enough to start making their compositions public.

Steve – Archonic

Track description: “This track is supposed to lift the spirits up. It has a slow burn even though the bassline is heavy. The synths are automated with soft delays and reverbs and the drums are designed to echo in space. Sound needs further development.”

About Steve

Steve has a simple goal in mind, making people connect through music. There are few DJs out there than can transpose into the collective consciousness of the crowd as he can. So far he got to play alongside the likes of Arapu, Nima Gorji, Melodie and many more but the biggest highlight of his career so far being warming up for Valentino Kanzyani.
Production-wise, he likes to keep mostly to himself and share his works only with a select few.

CGeorge – The Divine Frequency

Track description: “The title is a compressed story about the native frequencies, the beautiful harmonious ones, created by vocal chords, both from humans and animals, in this case, birds. The singer I’ve chosen to mix between breaks and synths, Maria Lataretu, was able to cover the story of a lark bird, finding her eggs crashed by machines harvesting the field, such a little event sung with a beautiful sadness, almost a divine one. Another thing I enjoy about this project, besides the classical romanian folkloric instruments adapted to the rhythm, is the fact that I tuned the overall semi-octave to sound like my mothers voice, when she was singing the original. I needed to finish the project, and hoping to get it in good hands in the future. Hope you will enjoy!”

Ruggiero – Foes Of Formalism

Track description: “Foes of Formalism opens up techno music space & strains and takes their audience within their music performance on a musical journey. This dynamic trip ranges from melancholic atmospheres to ecstatic beats.
The 7:00 minutes composition is meant to bring the listener’s mind into an contemplative state while finding out various groove patterns.
By further developing the synthesis between conventional/classical & electronic music elements the track aims to exceed the musical standards and merge it with its own character.
Catching inspiration by macrocosmic moments of our planets vast nature, endless starry sky or microcosmic moments of pure joy and deep emotions trying to capture these moments creatively and converting them into audio and increases the infinite listener’s imagination.
Sound is not pure sound. It is a rapid acceleration of sound and silence.
The magic of this track is found in its ability to blur the demarcations between what is found sound and what is modular, what is sampled and what is programmed.

Made using an Elektron Digitakt as a drum machine, microKorg S to sculpt the ambients, BOSS RE-20 for the reverb and delay, TASCAM field recorder and Live 10 as DAW.

About Ruggiero

Ruggiero finds himself in an art “labyrinth”, having numerous twists and turns in his artistic career and always oscillating between sounds. He left Romania since high school, studying film in London but after a closer contact with the music scene there, he decides to leave for Berlin after graduation. He then explores electronic music at dBs Music Berlin.
His approach to music is meticulous, bringing uniques sound and trying to combine two worlds together: music and film. This merging of worlds manifests into an elastic and versatile nature that can be heard in his productions, adopting music as an art form rather than a musical genre.

Widovski – Erised’s Mirror

Track description: “Erised’s mirror is part myth, part fantastic reality. It’s said that in this mirror, one can see their deepest, most powerful desires, that drives them to the very edge of reality. The track is crafted by this very myth, creating and devouring one’s desires whilst creating a fantasy space, that drifts gently through a realm of unknown fantasies. With an enchanting pad that flows like a river through the forest, completed by a synth that skips between dream and reality whilst empowering the simplicity of the drums, this track is something to listen to in awe and let guide you through a state of wonder.”

Track description: “Imagine how our reality was created. It took but two atoms, too small to perceive with a simple glance, that happened to collide at the perfect time and in that perfect way so that they created, what we call now, life. This track is about those two atoms, their story and their decision to create something truly, utterly, magical and how their little dance assembled our beautiful story.”

Red Pig Flower – You Are Not Mine

Track description: “After I broke up with my previous relationship which, I had time to find myself again, beside broken heart, take the pieces of puzzles and examining again. The process was indeed interesting, I had to learn everything again, how to play piano, how to make music again, how to appreciate people who support me, and how to love again and be loved again.
I start to make series of tracks about emotional development of break up.
“You are not mine” is a part of this series. This is not about hate, we need to be individual, to love other; not possession but understanding and caring is the key. I hope I delivered well this notion through the track.”

About Trik

After 3 years of constant presence in DJs’ record bags from all over the globe as Nice ‘n Trick (with Dragutesku) thanks to their top-notch future sounding vinyl releases on IO Mulen’s label “Mulen Records”, Constantin Leonard chose to go solo and pursue his DJ & Producer career as Trik.

He’s now leading his own record label and DJ crew “Generatia ’90”, supporting young local Romanian talents (but not only), releasing their tracks both digitally and on vinyl, whilst also producing his own tracks for several record labels from around the world.

As a person, he is like the music he produces and the tracks he digs: Always on, excited and adventurous, happy and positive, always nice to have around.

Nevertheless, he is a hard working and never self-satisfied artist, seeking to select his tracks to perfection, mesmerizing crowds with his natural DJ skills and his ability to create stories and send his vibe to the people through the fresh music he plays, at the same time trying to stay true to represent underground club culture and his roots.

The two directions in which I compose are hip hop respectively house. For me the harmony matters and especially the melodic motif of the track, whether it is given by an instrument or a voice.

Kenah – Sa spun tot

Track description: “The track lays on a background of deep techno, influenced a little by a minimal arrangement style. The 127 bpm is suitable for dancing at the club with a mix of sounds that are equilibrate in drums , percs and melodies.”

About Kenah

As what he concerns, music made his life brighter with the appropriate amount of artistical value of which he can be well put into a magical grief towards evolving into this path. The way he mix gives you the energy to be concentrated on the sounds delivered because he is always playing from minimal to techno-house or even techno.

Gjetson – Concerto

About Gjetson

I always produced music (I think I was 12-13 years old when I saw an air djing for the first time, and since then I keep trying, I keep trying), I do not know, maybe for 1 year I played cs 1.6, except for this, only music.
I started Gjetson in October 2018 when I had to think through what I want to do with my life … to produce music :))
I have succeeded in finalizing songs, getting some wow, plums, to collaborate, to talk to people, all this is starting to be fun.

Lately I worked a lot, I did not really listen to music, I like the artists with whom I’m on the same vibe, I do not know how to explain it, I love Bucurie, Mrsch, Subit, many Romanian + foreign artists, Ferro, Rojid, I like the vibe of Barac, Herodot, Cap, Viktor Udvari, I’m listening to Rts.fm mixes (Lee Burton, Ada Kaleh, Okain).

sur – cosmos infinit si inutil

Track description: “The track is thought to inspire the listener something from a space saga, a space ballad to be more exact. It starts with a subtle melancholic pad that slowly builds alongisde blip bloop effects and percussions to where the disonant aggressive bassline hits and brings the space traveller from a smooth ride with his spaceship to some disturbances then to some small accidents, a battle then a break that anounce the next battle and in the end everything comes back to normal.”

The track was built using Ableton and Push2 alongside with some hardware.

DRUMS: Roland TR-08
Bass: Korg Monologue
Pads: Arturia Microfreak
Reverb: Valhalla Shimmer
Textures: Monologue and Microfreak sampled and mangled with different effects and or Granulator 2 in Ableton

Bonso – Mind Dance

Track description: “I made this track a while ago, using a hybrid setup of analog and digital sources in my studio in Athens. I love my tracks to have a deep, percussive character, while keeping the elements as minimal and subtractive as they can.”

About Bonso

Born out of the diverse Athenian electronic music scene, Yiannis Psillas a.k.a. Bonso equilibrates in the cutting edge of house and techno music in the modern age. Started Djing in 2000, together with his studies on Product and Systems Design Engineering which leaded him to form the duo “Gus & Bonso” in 2007, developing an identity that draws on the culture of rhythmic, repetitive, & bassy music while pushing into uncharted territory.

Having spent his life delving into all aspects of the music he loves, avidly collecting a broad range of records from hip hop, drum & bass, dub and jazz through to electronica. Bonso took his name from his former graffiti identity and applied it to DJing and between it he amassed a broad range of experience performing across Greece. As his knowledge and skills progressed, he spreaded the message to gigs in Greece, UK, France, the Netherlands & Romania. His roots however remain firmly entrenched in the vibrant club circuit of Athens, especially with his regular slots at notorious nightspot Six D.O.G.S. and shows alongside such legendary artists as Rhadoo, Petre Inspirescu, Matthew Johnson, Praslea, Livio & Roby, Shonky, Julian Perez and many more.

As his reach and influence in Greece continues to grow, Bonso is further establishing himself outside of his home country with a sound that understands the vibe of the dancefloor while embracing the opportunity to take his listeners into new and unexpected places.

Francesco Nikolai – Kara Koyum

Track description: “The track starts with a spacey, steady drum rhythm and deep bass., then it starts to take a more percussion oriented vibe, filled with a obscure texture. Deepinde – Nede

Track description: “The nature, despite being characterized by its perpetual hum, can be very, very quiet. This phenomenon, of the loud quietness, is almost paradoxal, don’t you think? It can’t articulate sounds, it’s not able to talk to us, but there is so much more than words for a connection to be made. This miracle we call nature writes symphonies by itself, without us not even noticing, permanently maintaining a perfect equilibrium. This resonating “quietness” is so loud, and maybe too loud for us to even perceive, that it breaks the barriers of what we already know, this way widening the horizons of knowledge.
By this musical amalgam, I’m trying to delineate what we already know about nature: the organised chaos, the mystery within, the fluidity of the sound itself and so much more, remaining to be discovered and passed through the filter of perception of each of us.
Think of the garden of Eden, also called the garden of God. It’s said to be the most magnificent place ever known by the human sight, where there’s no pain, toil or danger. Where the mundane and abracadabrant are braided into a Heavenly crown. Now look at the nature around you. This might be your Eden, the piece of Heaven given to us to preach, it’s only up to you.
Through this song, now presented to you, I’m trying my best (and hopefully succeed) to portray a corner of heavenly delight, bringing together the natural landscape, the innocent complexity of its sounds and also my love for music.”

About Deepinde

Deepinde is a young artist, originated from Galați, Romania. He is a teenager, but his main passion is putting words and feelings into sounds, taking the materials, transposing them into art. His songs have a specific touch of minimalism, an already so-known characteristic of him. The catchy rhythms, the tricky beats and the dreamy pads define what we know now as Deepinde.

Radu Nicolof – Donuts

Track description: “Track made for a university assignment made out of sounds created exclusively out of a recording of me saying ”donuts” (which can be heard right at the beginning of the track)”

About Radu Nicolof

Hello! My name is Radu Nicolof and I aspire to become an electronic composer and sonic artist and I am currently located in Bucharest. I have found my passion for music at the age of 16 after hearing the soundtrack of videogame ”Bully scholarship edition”, which I thought managed to capture the atmosphere and emotion contained in the game’s universe perfectly. I thought to myself afterwards that I would feel very accomplished if I would do something similar more than anything. Later on I carried on to carefully listening to videogame soundtracks, growing fond of various vgm soundtracks and the artists works as well. I was intrigued by the idea of electronic sound, as it seemed to me to be this huge novelty in the world of sound (almost as if new colours were discovered for visual arts). After my first year of university studying in this domain having in mind to mainly be active in the world of electronic music, I started liking the idea of sound gesture, which can be heard from experimental works of artists such as Karlheinz Stockhausen all the way to the world of dance music.

Current city: Bucharest, Romania 🇷🇴
3 releases you enjoy the most: ”Petre Inspirescu – Galantar” (I enjoy the video-game-esque vibes of the main bass synth. One of my favorite aspects in music is being able to sort of imagine action over it); ”Justin Mullins – Vorago solitude combat” (track off of the ”Borderlands: the pre-sequel” OST. As always, I enjoy the synthetic sounds and action packed atmosphere, great source of inspiration for me as a producer); ”Qebrus – GLITCHMACHINES/DIALECT” (very abundant in percussive sounds, several complex drum patterns that I can learn alot off of as a producer, many techniques that can be applied in the context of all kinds of tracks
that one may produce)

Radu Nicolof – I Ar Pi

Track description: “Heavily inspired from ERP’s music, simple chords accompanied by the occasional slight drum variations and glitchy sounds, trying to encompass a more dreamy vibe, playing around with the listeners expectations, sometimes even varying things by not adding any variations at all (sometimes less is more)”

Oyio – The Dog Days

Track description: “The track is part of my next standard EP to come out. It is a clean case of EBM infused techno and it is probably one if my heaviest tracks to release. I am now looking for a publisher for the whole Dizzy Jitterbug EP.”

About Oyio

My artist name is Oyio and I am a conceptual music artist with a strong affinity for techno and EBM. My first conceptual release is a four track LP named Infinite Loops. Inspired by Constantin Brancusi’s work, Coloana Infinitului, the production process has been special: each track is produced using the sonic pieces from the previous, much like in a symphony structure. The second conceptual release is called Blind Date and is an attempt to remix poetry in techno.

Vot’e – Basil Country

Track description: “Basil Country is a tongue in cheek minimal track that features a girl’s multi-lingual musings over a home-grown basil plant at 6am on a Saturday morning, likely not too long after an afterparty that has otherwise not survived in living memory. Firmly at the more minimal end of the sounds produced by Vot’e, the track is based on a synth heavy beat and a persistent high-hat with acoustic drum sounds filling the space between beats, interrupted by several intermittent time signature fluctuations to introduce temporary panic in the set of the aspiring DJ (such as the author)”

About Vot’e

London-based, Bulgarian-born producer of electronic music that merges a minimalistic approach to production with a drive towards harmonic complexity and unorthodox rhythmic structures.

Multi-disciplinary musician with a background in classical and rock guitar-based music and jazz, and a long-lasting love for the minimal electronic and Romanian sound, developed on dancefloors across Europe in the past decade.
