Jon Borno – Antiviral [vinyl]

Set description: Starting off with a very subtle breakbeat style track, the set evolves into a spaced-out, spherical journey through the landscape of minimalistic Romanian house music. In the time before the set was recorded, I visited some local record stores in Germany, digging through a lot of very interesting music. After visiting Prague for a week, I came back with lots of new records in my bag and new ideas and experiences in my head. The last place I’ve visited was GRAM Records in Prague – the drawing by my lovely girlfriend shows the inside of this beautiful place. Listening to my podcast “Romania” on the way home, I decided to record a ro-minimal podcast again. I hope you enjoy the story and the music showcased in this podcast!

About Jon Borno

About yourself: “Hey, my name is Tobias and I am living in Hannover, which is in the northern part of Germany. When I am not hosting parties, working at festivals or DJ in the local club scene, I try to finish my PhD in mechanical engineering… As the artist Jon Borno, I mainly play a variety of minimalistic, deep and spherical house music, but also use to play some beats and old-school hip hop, as well as minimal techno – from time to time I also dig into old-school house music and funky stuff. The music scene evolving around minimalistic music isn’t too big in Hannover, but I always try to find those parties and locations where people really enjoy those minimal journeys. Since I am working on my computer most of the time, I love to play on a physical format. Since I started spinning electronic music, I have collected more than 1200 records and always keep digging for new, interesting and unexpected music and also artists. Building up my sets I always look for a story to tell to the audience, while using subtle transitions and smooth changes of vibe.”

Current city:
Hannover, Germany 🇩🇪

3 releases you enjoy the most:
-> Dwig – Feige Dattel [Giegling 09] – totally deep and sophisticated minimalism from Germany; the EP is musically interesting as well
-> Stekke – Sain [SKT003] – very jazzy, moody and minimalistic; very nice produced EP
-> Vid Vai ‎– Barracuda Vortex EP [SR007] – I started collecting hip hop and instrumental records long before, I was into electronic music… Since then there was always a strong interest for breakbeat records. I especially enjoy the B1 track – very deep and funky at the same time!

3 Romanian artists you follow:
This is very hard for me since there are a lot of great Romanian producers and djs…
-> Cosmjn – probably the first Romanian artist I really dug deeply. I have a lot of records of him and still enjoy his sound.
-> Oliviu – I got to know him at a rave in Hannover, where I played after him… We both were really happy to see someone representing the Romanian minimal sound in this city. Also, he is a very nice and down-to-earth guy.
-> Incolor – he is the Romanian producer who brings the most joy to me at the moment, I love his morning motion EP and in general, his very reduced but driving sound.

3 international artists you follow:
-> Soyro – One of the producers who show that ro-minimal isn’t something only people in Romania love and enjoy.
-> Idealist – His very dubby and minimalistic approach to techno is something, that gets me moving every time, which is probably the reason I have most of his records.
-> Moomin – He defines this very deep and moody house sound I always fall in love with, when I hear it.

Most played album:
-> Twit One ‎– Hay Luv [MPM226] – interesting, jazzy and vibe-heavy Beats/Instrumentals, perfect for many occasions, probably the most played album in my collection.

NiK – Bedroom session 004

Set description: As we are in lockdown currently, I wanted to make use of all this free time and dig for even more music. This set I made consists of some highlights of old tech house music, with some dark minimal and happy breakbeat rhythms I found during this digging session. The subtle background sounds are mixing perfectly with these groovy basslines, making you want to dance with all your body with your eyes closed, sending you to your own world perceived through these sounds.
The first minutes of the set reminds you that you start this journey from earth, as you can hear the seagulls in the distance, but the virtualization of this world is starting slowly and gets wrapped with digital sounds. You can feel the journey by travelling the tunnel of bass, which gives you a hard shaking especially at the half of the set, followed by the mindblowing sounds of some old synths, dissolving the concept of time until the last quarter of the set, where a short disruption of the digital world is triggered by the vocals, which reminds us that happiness is a human feeling, and also these happiness-inducing tracks are made by humans. The last part of the set is a more calm and obscure one, with some nice melodic grooves, followed by a last, unexpected drop to wake you up from the trance and smile, reflecting at what you have witnessed and felt.

About NiK

About yourself: Hello! I am a student (18 years old) in the first year of university who fell in love with the music he listens to. As it sounds cliche, it actually saves me out of any sadness and enhances any happy moments I m living. I started listening to this kind of music 3 years ago and I have started making playlists since then, but got a little more involved in it a year after, when I bought my first dj console. After figuring out the basics and having some parties at friends’ houses, along with the encouragements from them, I hosted my first (yet only) party last summer in my home town, Targu Mures, where I was feeling every second of happiness because people enjoyed my music. After that party, I knew playing music made me feel good, but seeing actual people dancing on my taste of music made me feel amazing. It made me even more curious and recently I started to learn to produce music. It is a little confusing sometimes, but I am trying my best and have no expectations, as the music I make and mix is mostly for me and the people, and not fame or money (it’s not the case for any of them haha)

Artist biography: DJ, aspiring music producer and enthusiast who will rather say he’s having fun than working when he’s playing music. Although his music taste is still developing, he focuses on strong, dark beats where a few drops of funky grooves are sometimes added to spice up the dancefloor along with the powerful basslines. His ultimate wish is that people enjoy the music he listens to as much as he does.

baCiu – minimal podcast

Set description: A minimal set, with a selection, thought from the beginning, the pieces being similar but very different at the same time. The bassline of the songs seems very strong to me, but the sounds on the back are as interesting as the bassline. Most of the songs are released this year, I like the new sound, I try to go on new episodes, not old ones. I think the sounds combined perfectly, making for a minimal atmosphere, but a little groovy.
Some pieces are from Vlad Arapasu, an artist who combines several genres into one song, which is why I chose his pieces. I think that this set also has house influences, some pieces being from outside the country, I consider that outside the country the house is more promoted than the minimal. I did not want to introduce tech-house pieces because they are too hard for me, in a set I think the minimal pieces are the most suitable, because they are pleasing to the ears, and the noisy ones like the tech-house are perfect for a party.

Jules Magois – Confinement and Expansion

Set description: This set focuses on recent and old minimal house. The two first tracks set the tone for the set, and are made by Romanian artists. The third track raises the energy, while still maintaining the hypnotic quality of the former tracks. Then the following minutes, the mood gets progressively quirkier. Halfway through the set, the tone of the set changes to get almost glitchy, and finally, the mood gets mellower towards the end.

Mint4000 – At a certain point it all started to move by itself

Set description: Well… like all my mixes the selection of this mix build by itself or out of the situation (pick&play). So, all in all, it is a pure and honest mix without any pre-selection and or reproduction, like a live afterhours or club mix.

As a medium I use vinyl cause for me it‘s the weapon of choice since I started collecting and play music. I learned to feel comfy with all the advantages and disadvantages, and I‘m really into the specific sound experience (frequencies).
This mix features temporary and contemporary music releases. As a collector I try to buy/select timeless music, music I could play now and even in a few years. Music that moves myself.

Discrete – Conceptual Podcast

Set description: An affinity for the commingling and contrasting sounds and playful experimentation inspired the birth of Savvy Records, a platform Kyle created to fill a distinct niche for the music he loves. Since the label’s conception in 2010, it has released singles and albums from such notable artists as Bram Faber, Frankie, René van Munster, S.O.S., Thomas Gwosdz, Thore Pfeiffer, Xavier León, as well as his own productions. Satto – 17.39SOTB [Friday practice session @ Soundbarn]

Set description: I have recorded this mix during one of my practice sessions. Nothing pre-planned, except for the idea of trying to take the dust off some older tracks to come up with a high energy set, and see how it goes.

About Satto

Artist biography: He started exploring electronic dance music towards the end of the 90’s. What followed was a journey through various genres: from trance and progressive house, to minimal and techno. This led him to explore the Bucharest underground scene, booming at that time (2002 2006).

2006 marked the year when Satto decided to take the next step and start DJing himself, by throwing parties in his home town of Rm. Valcea. Satto contributed his unique style to the development of the small but enthusiastic local scene.

In 2007 he won a bedroom DJ contest, organized by cubecast.net , clubbing mag and beatfactor.ro , and got to play alongside Raresh & Praslea. Following a break of a few years, he resumed his DJ career, happy to share his passion for music with friends and listeners.

His sound sits somewhere between house and techno, with a heavy dose of darkness, spiced up with deep, hypnotic rhythms for good measure.

Parea – Warm up @ Casa Gracia

Set description: Usually when I practice at home I tend to imagine myself playing at different venues of my city which I like. Then with that in mind I perform according whether do I imagine I am playing early in the night or during a peak-time set, afterhour, etc.

For this set I pictured myself playing a warm-up set at Casa Gracia where I had the honour to play and also is one of my favourite clubs in the city. This place was a former bank basement in Barcelona’s city centre, although nowadays it is part of an hotel. The dance floor was quite small, surrounded by sofas and it had just one bar. The dj booth was facing the bar, and behind it you could find through the big windows an interior terrace for smokers. Lighting was warm, with dimmed lights, so that the atmosphere there was quite intimate although fast-paced dancers enjoyed as well 🙂

About Parea

About yourself: I am Marc from Barcelona. I started djing when I was 15 and I have played under my real name and other aliases since then. Around two years ago, I decided to start a new project under the alias Parea, which is more focused on tech-house and minimal.

Artist biography: Dj, producer and one of Barcelona’s rising artists yet to get discovered. However Parea is no stranger to the local clubbing scene. He has played in some of the most known venues in the city such as Elrow, City Hall or Casa Gracia.

He started mixing while still a teenager and since then he has grown and matured his sound both as a producer and a dj. His sound can be defined as minimal-house, but it’s more than that often moving between different subgenres of house and techno.

Best known for keeping the party going on for long hours, Parea has proven his creativity not only behind the decks, but also as a producer. His first release on Bandcamp has received good feedback and support. He published podcasts on Tanzgemeinschaft Magazine, Grainy Unknown Artist series, Sonica.es and Pineal Barcelona.

Hometrippin w/ Sabin

Set description: I did enjoy the break and drop style a long time ago, aggressive if you are too happy, but now I’m mastering the art of keeping a journey trough beats and percussive elements, it’s not always about the drop.

I did this one as a test with my own Traktor 2 mapping that allows me to use the Xone 92 mixer concept with 4 eq’s.

About Sabin./Tripcatchers.

About yourself: Started my journey trough kicks and snares two years ago but got the opportunity to have some after a year of using the good old mouse. This issue motivated me and really taught me that you can do quality products using what you have.

Group description: Our group’s goal is making every party like an art gallery. We are new in this industry, trying to make something different, not just a closed room with obscure light and big speakers.

Koler – Set for feeder sound

Set description: In assembling this set I have started from one track around which I tried to build this entire set, that track being Baertaub Wolke, an all-time classic in my opinion. I did not want to stick to the idea of a set having a beginning, middle and ending but tried to more or less create a feeling, something that I am usually searching every time I go to see some of my favourite artists playing. My set is a celebration of the digging that I have been doing for the past year or so, displaying some of my all-time favourite tracks. You can find new and old tracks in this set trying to unite two periods, the pre 2000s one, before I was born, and the one that I am living in right now, trying to make the most out of it. Enjoy 🙂

About Koler

Artist biography: A 19 year old music enthusiast trying to stretch the boundaries between minimal, deep house and techno music. An adept of the idea “good music I dance, no good music I not dance”. My original influence was the Romanian minimal scene, but London definitely widens my taste for music, thus shifting a little bit to the deep house part of it.

Marseeey – vinyl mix feeder open call 2020

Set description: “Marseeey vinyl mix feeder open call 2020” is a part of my ro-minimal vinyl collection of 2019 mixed live at home studio.

About Marseeey

Artist biography: Moscow-based techno/tech house DJ Marseeey is involved in music for more than a decade: his first experience with music production are dated 2002. In 2011 young artist tried himself as a DJ and stood in front decks — and since then Marseeey has been playing at underground parties, always delivering top-notch music taste and impeccable insights on how electronic music should sound like. Short time after it brought him to residency in a small DJ cafe Mojo (Suzuran) right in the heart of Moscow: his artistic vision and deep knowledge of current music trends encouraged respect from famous veterans of Moscow club scene.

Speaking of his own strong advantages, Ilia prior names music taste and attention to the tiniest nuances of music: during preparation for new set, Ilia can spend hours digging vinyl crates or lurking beatport catalogues, listening to thousands of tracks before he finally finds the one that he needs. “Right now in the world there are a great number of talented musicians: that’s why one of the most important parts of being a DJ is to reveal hidden gems among enormous massive of decent music” — says Ilia. — “I often consider electronic musicians as modern-day geniuses. You can’t produce masterpieces on assembly line: they are rare, practically solitary phenomena. And every single one of them deserves to be heard”.

Splendid music taste of Marseeey brought him to legendary global DJ contest Burn Residency in 2016. From that time he is AlfaFuturePeople music festival resident from Burn Energy.

Sandoo – Cutiuta Muzicala

Set description: Cutiuta Muzicala is an ongoing project of mine since 2019. This is the third DJ set from it and my personal favorite. I think it tells a story that you’d hear at a late afterparty where you could dance to it if you want, but nodding your head and dancing with your mind would be just as fitting. In accordance with the contest theme, I consider the tracks to transcend the concept of space, being able to teleport you wherever and with whoever you feel most comfortable. The set includes some of the dearest tracks to me and combines rominimal, deep house and some other nice foreign surprises as well. Enjoy!

About Sandoo

Artist biography: I’m a 22 year old music enthusiast from Romania. I discovered house and minimal during my bachelor years in Bucharest. Little by little, I grew to want to express myself through music too, while trying to find the sound that I like. I started DJing at friends’ parties at the end of 2018 and began producing a little while ago, as well.

Shu – feeder podcast

Set description: A houseful mid-spring selection for mood-enhancing experiences.

About Shu

It was after the communist era so that access to music was scarce. The sound of artists like Fatboy Slim, John Digweed, Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, were the only treats he could get his hands on. His journey with electronic music soon became a love affair and he decided to take it to the next level. After settling in Cluj and undergoing several stages (resident DJ, event planner, promoter), he reached a musical maturity that today is represented by the concept LIBERTÉ FRATERNITÉ GROOVÉ.

Cr15tina – FEEDER SOUND 2020

Set description: The set I sent you is made especially for this contest.
I hope you enjoy it.

About Cr15tina

About yourself: “Hello everyone. I am glad that I have the opportunity to share with you, the same feelings full of love, towards music!
My name is Filip Cristina, I was born on the Black Sea and I come from the resort 2 Mai.
As a child I had musical skills, I sang, I danced and I was attracted from an early age by the secrets of mixing. For several years I have been doing production, but I still have a lot to learn and I want to improve every day. Music for me, that’s all! Love, Passion, Devotion, Patience, Creation, Energy, Light, Knowledge, for me and for the people I interact with, through her prism and not only! Music has transformed me into what I am now. A human who wants to share as much positive vibration and peace as possible, to create a more beautiful world with you!”

Artist biography: Hailing from the capital of Romania, Bucharest, Cristina was born near the Black Sea shore in the holiday spot 2Mai, on April 19, 1987. She has lived into a childhood and adolescence of electronic music, as her father was an avid vinyl collector with an affection for electronica.

At the tender age of 14 was the first time she stood behind the decks, learning the techniques and crafting her DJ skills, and shortly after she began playing at local summer club. Prompted by her interest in electronic music and restless creative spirit Cristina also attended and completed a singing school.

In 2006 she moved to Bucharest getting involved in the Romanian capital’s underground party scene. She got to play her first gig at the Zebra club in Bacau, where many artists who left their mark in the Romanian underground scene have originated and made their stamp. For the next decade, she was a regular at many of Bucharest’s underground spots and became the resident of Silver after-hours club.

After a short hiatus, Cr15tina remerged back into the scene, this time with an interest for producing and creating her own sounds, marked by strong feeling, and emotion.

Her first EP, “Zbor Maiastru”(2016), was released by the label Arms Limited, followed by “Love Dimension” E.P (2017) released by the label Cisne Negro, and then her single for Rooftop Cardigans Sampler V.A. “Nu Zaietz Pagadi” (2017).

Since 2017 she has joined forces with HighSound.Ro collective, an agency that promotes underground Romanian dj’s, artists and music producers.

Licushorescu – tot la zi ajunge și cea mai lungă noapte

Set description: Comprised of eight tracks from two special artists, the set is full of melodic elements, sometimes more discreet, sometimes in the forefront of the listener, and is decorated with a particular grain. All this creates an abstract musical painting out of organic elements where the tracks follow one another with remarkable naturalness, managing to let the audience slowly slip into a groovy experience.
As for the title, at the time of this contest, we, as a species, are going through some challenging times and it is now when we need each other the most. It is now the moment when music enables connections between us and comforts us until happier days come. Therefore, “tot la zi ajunge și cea mai lungă noapte” – a rough translation of a quote from Victor Hugo — “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” – felt like an inspired choice for a mixtape intended to make the listener’s mind escape to the brighter future that awaits us around the corner.

sEmoa – own productions

Set description: This is quite a special set, as it’s the second own productions only mix I created. It represents an organic crescendo commencing with an ethereal sonic environment, followed by fluid and acid melodies. The ending is harsh and hollowed, conveying a dark soundscape. Although it extends to a wide variety of scenarios, the essence, which is, delivering emotion is in a constant state of progress.

Grecescu – Madina

Set description: Madina is imagined as an urban journey through different takes on dancefloor grooves. It starts off organically from the East, moving to a more electronic, synthy and rather darker West and closes the loop in an Eastern hand made percussion fashion. It’s a homage to being all under one roof raving.

About Grecescu

Artist biography: Born and bred in Bucharest to guitars, trip hop and low bpm electronics. Started djing properly in 2014 to indie/alternative/electronic nights, moved further to 100% electronic ranging from disco/world infused house to electronica to synths to deeper/darker tones. DJing highlight (up to now): closing the Booha Mansion stage for Electric Castle in 2019, marking my 3rd appearance at the festival. Always on a musical quest to make people dance their nights off while wearing their best smiles.

Artro – set

Set description: I curated this session specifically for Feeder, using cdjs and turntables, and focusing inward. What resulted is an organic taste of Artro, starting off with crunchy textures, sitar and profound vocals setting the stage for a psychedelic, meditative yet dancy set. With dissonant sounds, tribal hints and a constant flow of groovy baselines and pronounced kicks, it’s sure to make you move.

About Artro

Artist biography: Born in San José, Costa Rica. Artro has been involved in sound for almost 20 years now. As a drummer, Djing and producing his own sounds  and field recordings for different purposes, Artro has been dedicating his time and energy to different forms of art. Based in Costa Rica he works in his studio named Trial Und Error and travels around the globe with different approaches to sound that go from Ambient, breaks, micro, minimal, house, Electro, dub, techno, acid, IDM to name some examples. He’s been releasing music since 2012 and is part of Half Seas Over family in San José, Costa Rica.

Artro has different variations to sound when curating events, it depends on the concept, whom he plays with, the people and the place. His music is a passage through different emotions and experiences from every now and then. It has textures full of life and patterns that connect everything, organicity and constant elements that feel as currents of rhythm. All this treated with a fine selection of hand picked records and digital released and unreleased music from friends and himself. Artro has also been experimenting with a live audiovisual performance. Music and his vibe has taken him to cure events, festivals, radio and more in places like Nicaragua, Honduras, Beijing, New York, Panamá, Chengdu, Qingdaoh, Honduras, El Salvador, Houston and all around Costa Rica to name some places.

Florin Popa – Campfire

Set description: My focus of the recording was on storytelling through deep, grooving dub techno tracks. Dealing with atmospheric moods, between the sky and the sea, immersive delays, stabby chords, punchy reverb. Just drifting away on a winter night next to a fireplace with a glass of mulled wine.

About Florin Popa

Artist biography: My name is Florin Popa, born in Iasi, Romania. Moved to Belgium in 2010. Started collecting records in 2011 but the passion for music started in 2007 when a friend of mine introduced me to deepmix.
Fell inlove instantly with Pushkarev’s style and followed his work ever since. I love the romanian style, this new trend let’s say but for me the russian with detroit influences style is my sweet spot.
Got my first pair of technics in 2017, followed by two cdj and an Xone 92 mixer. At the moment I’m your friendly neighborhood bedroom dj walking with small babysteps into the vast universe of producing.

About Mr CLAUDE

DJ, Composer, Founder & Owner ACE Prod.music34

Centrifug – Subculture mixseries vii

About the set: I’ve been tripping myself for over a month into searching and selecting these tracks, through a timeless resume of a soundscape that I would play over and over again, with music that stretches back 4 decades.

Set description: music is the capsule that moves back and forth without considering any physical boundaries, now you are here, after the next break you could be 20 years ago. As a selector, you could play with time and define your own dimension, that’s why most of my sets will have its peak somewhere long time ago where most of the music was done on hardware, played loud on dyi soundsystems, when music was heard into discos, not into clubs. I like that form of expression, when not everything was labelled and put under genres, when you were coming to listen to good music, not to an artist in particular. I enjoy diversity, that’s why this set is a bit different from what I usually play into warehouse, but more likely what I mix at smaller gatherings of like minded people.

About Centrifug

About yourself: I could describe myself as a person of low voltage and high tempo, an explorer, a curious mind. These things are expressed though my time spent as an artist. I enjoy to challenge myself with tasks of diverse possibilities, through which my curiosities are pushed forward and new different levels of enjoyment are fulfilled.

Artist biography: I’ve started tweaking hardware 4-5 years ago, but I’m behind speakers for almost 10 years. My mission is to first discover the scene and its culture, then to push my boundaries and change the rules, so I could add some pieces of puzzle through my own vision. Right now i’m focusing on a project here in Cluj in which I put together different installations and artists through a night of music & video in different unconventional places, focused on techno / electro. We had some really massive warehouses, car parkings and other industrial landscapes, all under Pressure Nights label.

Javier – Open Call feeder sound

About Javier

Artist biography: Based in the city of Cajamarca, Peru, Javier is a producer and DJ who had contact with electronic music from an early age. When he was 16 years old he started to participate in various parties in his hometown and, cautious with the rhythms, decided to dedicate more time to his passion. Exploring modern mixing techniques, as well as searching for the right music, he constantly makes a name for himself by playing at events, recording podcasts, and working on his own productions.

Before going to a concert or preparing a recording, take some time with the selection, check various tracks to find the corrections and thus create an incredible experience full of emotions for your audience. His style includes elegant themes and melodic compositions, a lot of intensity and beautiful atmospheres. From deep and dubious sounds to microhouse and minimalist cuts, the music Javier offers is engaging and introspective. At his young age, he participated in several important local parties organised by brands such as Octogonal, Moon Sound, Deep Motion, and Blankă Records.

In 2019, he was a Finalist in the open call for DJs and producers and contributed to the weekly podcast series with a set titled feeder sound 203 mixed by Javier.

Now, in 2020, he is part of the independent record label Blankă Records with more followers this year.
Currently, a dedicated artist is working on new materials, so we’ll be hearing more music from him soon.

Constand – feeder sound open call podcast

About the set: A mix between my personal work and other tracks that I’ve been enjoying lately.
Set description: I built this set around a few unreleased tracks of mine. It’s a journey where the transitions between tracks are long, creating new grooves between each other. For this to happen, I have used 3 decks while mixing for some transitions. I started with a 124 bpm, going to a 125 towards the middle of the podcast always mixing in key to allow the tracks to be in harmony with each other.

Ceco – Red Strings

Set description: A reasonably diverse mix of slightly more UK-grounded things I’ve been listening to lately all making their way towards that Flabbergast track and its “invisible red strings” that I just can’t get enough of… Annoyingly running out of track for Gemini towards the end but totally worth it for the build up to that warm synth in the opening track. Recorded for an audience of 3 flatmates nodding their heads and tapping their feet in the background – the closest we have been to a party in a while. Enjoy.

About Ceco

Artist biography: DJ based in London. Like dancing to records, listening to records and mixing records (in that order:) Music tastes are of course always evolving and increasingly diverging as you always find new artists and sub-genres but I try to stitch together as many as possible in my sets whilst keeping the common thread going. Most of the times it works and of course sometimes it doesn’t but it’s rarely boring. This one is no exception with quite a few twists and turns – hopefully a welcome respite from the monotone blur that our lives are right now.

Kristik – dj set for feeder.ro

Set description: I perceive this set for feeder sound as a musical story. It is a connecting dot between older and newer wave of rhythm.
I primed a special selection of my most heartfelt records/media, and a few tracks from myself.
Starting off slowly from organic voices and rhythms that have been here since humans invented the rhythm, and then ramping the tempo up, going towards the club music of our time.
Hoping to connect the people to enjoy it together, that is what dj’ing is all about.

About Kristik

Artist biography: Kristik – DJ, artist, part of the collective ‘Teknopicnic’ and a resident for Deepboxx (a.k.a dbxx).

Passionate listener of electronic music since a kid, he went straight up to his first rave as a teen, and immediately knew what he wanted to do with his life.
First he was helping out local promoters to make events, then he taught himself to play records and made a few mixtapes online. Eventually he started to play gigs around the ‘underground’ of Helsinki, gaining experience, and forming his sound.
His sound is minimalistic, warm, raw and human. It leaves space for imagination and welcomes ambiguity.
Microhouse, experimental, electronic.

ζεη – feeder sound open call

Set description: Being away from home and from my studio for more than a few months due to the recent pandemic, my participation in this project seemed compromised, however, 24 hours before submitting this podcast, I managed to accrue for a short period of time some equipment to record this journey before the deadline was up. It is as humanely imperfect in the same way it is the most honest representation of the feelings that needed to be expressed in the art form that I love the most. Thank you for allowing me to participate and for listening to this set. All the best for you all!

Antho – Last Minute

Set description: Inspired by various Romanian and international artists, I find my safety and satisfaction playing powerful tracks aiming to “cause” emotions, mixing various kinds of genres resulted from decomposing House, sprinkling breaks and glitches on the top. This set is an easy way for me to show you how I see things and how I create my confort zone. The title was chosen due to the fact that I’ve been planning to do this set since the contest was announced but I actually recorded it right before the deadline (May 6th, 6 PM).

About Antho

Artist biography: Passion and curiosity: two simple words that can frame his personality, regarding both expression through music and his full-time job as a medical engineer. Giving 101% of himself anytime he’s playing and embracing any question mark that comes up in his musical journey, Antho is always carrying his great desire of making the auditors vibe. Always looking to discover the groove in a crowded room full of imperfect sound blends, he believes that beauty exists in each and every transmitted vibration.

V ka – FEEDER.ro Open call podcast

Set description: Set including own tracks made by Sophisticated Curiosity.

About V ka

Artist biography: Despite the fact that she based in Russia, most of the events with her participation take place abroad.
As a record selector, she has been carefully collecting her vinyl collection for several years, where you can find such labels as: Sleep is commercial, Nervmusic, All Inn Black, Perlon, Amam, etc., releases of which she is willing to share in clubs, on podcast channels and online broadcasts, such as RTS.FM, FM4 and Feeder.ro
An open mind and an independent view allow her to accurately select a compilation for the audience of the country club or podcast where she will perform.
Her musical style in Berlin was jocular called “gangsta style” for a reference to hip-hop in part of the broken sound in her sets, in the stylistic range between breakbeat of the 90s, Romanian hypnotic vibe, micro and minimal house, compositions with an implicit confusing rhythm from friends-producers from Eastern Europe.
In V ka sets, you can hear the author’s work under the alias Sophisticated Curiosity (the project of two artists with same vision of music)

Kaze – breaking around

Set description: I could say that my musical ear evolves from month to month, but as a base I have and I will always have an affinity for breakbeats, which is also observed in my sets. This set contains predominantly “broken” rhythms but also 4/4 rhythms each being based on a subtle dark groove and strong percussion. The built atmosphere is based on details and aims to go through some interior states.

About Kaze

Artist biography: The violent passing through the congregation of musical styles, the discoveries which involved a diversity of genres along the journey and choosing as a final decision the electronic music, have all contributed to his development as an individual. Obsessed with the linear and profound thinking, he is effortlessly drifting away in the endless waves of color the minimalistic sound has to offer.

Grigor Kanev – 1st set submission

Set description: The set represents what I love and what I need to hear when I go to parties. I like diversity and it is a very important aspect of my style. I always try to keep the things diverse jumping from minimal to house then to techno, breaks or somewhere in between. Of course, this needs a lot of practice and knowing your records well enough. My mixing is not perfect which can sometimes be very annoying for the listener but when it comes to playing records it’s just so fun.

About Grigor Kanev

It is still a hobby because I am currently doing my studies but once I finish I will try to make it as a full time job. Lexia Majora – An Exploration of Self-Kindness

Set description: This mix is an exploration of boundaries and overlaps between genres, between mainstream and underground, feelings of comfort, novelty and change. It’s something I created in a time which is challenging an and it curates moods, rhythms or speeds that I encounter in daily life in lockdown mode. I also see my mixing as an act of political statement making, resistance and performance of discourses which I find important, problematic or influential in meaningful ways to me and to society in general. At the same time, I see mixing as an encouragement to be more in touch with myself, with my instinct and in the same way, I hope to inspire those who listen to this to do the same.

About Lexia Majora

Artist biography: I am techno DJ based in Exeter. I am resident and manager of Sister Sounds (https://www.facebook.com/sistersoundscollective/), an all-womxn collective for DJs in Exeter. I have played sets for Sister Sounds events featuring Sherelle, Breakwave and Mor Elian, and Room 303 nights showcasing UMFANG and Afrodeutsche, supporting the local musical community consistently. I have played guest mixes on Noods Radio and Love Summer Radio and plan to contribute more. I am also a PhD researcher doing an anthropological study of ro-minimal and the ways in which this genre is important to identity and community building. I am also a poet and spoken word artist.

About HUBA

Artist biography: HUBA (Hubert Flow) – DJ/Producer/Writer based in London UK. Born and raised in Wroclaw, Poland. His musical journey begins in late 90s. His fascination with old-school Hip-Hop results in many underground albums recorded and dozens of concerts performed Europewide. After years of experimentation his music converged in micro-minimalistic side of house where HUBA finds peace to this day. His music has been recognised by some of the top DJs like Marco Carola or Richie Hawtin to name the few. Every project he approaches, every track he finishes, every sound he creates has a deeper meaning and is part of a greater agenda. Hubert likes to say: “Music itself is boring. The real trick to music production is to tell a story”. For many years HUBA could be found in East London playing at busy warehouse parties like Stump, The Sunday Afters, Point and many more. Recently he has been fully focused on a brand-new Live Act project. Without the use of any computer software his music matured and became a true representation of his inspirations. Take a dive in to learn about HUBA’s perspective on Nature of Reality, Time, Matter and Consciousness.
