Cerec – apă001 [apă by Unic]
The vinyl-only label Unic Records launch their first sublabel apă, marking a brand new sonic direction for the Australian imprint. Showcasing elegant and fluid rhythms that flow with the effortless grace of water itself, the Argentinian artist Cerec drops three fresh and amazing cuts full of warmth and immersive arrangements.
Pablo Kitzberger aka Cerec really shines bright here, crafting a magnetic luminance across the EP in a very distinct way, just like we are accustomed to hearing from him. With works published by The Senss, Algorhythmic, Archipel and Questionmark Records, the young producer and DJ stands out in the South American minimal scene and slowly builds a resonant name for himself in the international context. Based in Sydney, Unic Records explores the heights and depths of minimalistic electronic dance music through podcasts, parties, vinyl reviews, premieres, features and releases. Up to this point, their 12” catalogue has been signed by Bryz, Dragutesku, RQZ and Silat Beksi, with more to follow for sure, as the underground minimal community in Australia is slowly gaining momentum.
apă001 introduces us to a deep and aquatic soundscape delivered by three tracks that remain untitled while revealing a soothing sound dimension. The journey starts on Side A with “1.1”, a playful and energising composition that flows with progressive and melodic patterns. The feeling is passed to the B-Side where we first have the chilled atmosphere created by “1.2” and the more uplifting funky rhythm of “1.3”. Both cuts are designed with clear percussive elements, solid basslines, evolving pads and notes, perfect for a laid-back afternoon set flavoured by an exotic summer breeze.
