Local DJ and producer Julian is back on Subtil Records with the 2nd part of “Metamorfoze”, presenting four highly energetic and deep hypnotic cuts. The first part was released back in 2016 and since then the artist has remained a constant presence in the underground electronic music scene, enjoying a residency at the renowned Guesthouse Club in Bucharest while dropping several independent releases and timeless EPs on labels like FarFromNormal, UnN Music, Tooloop Records, Flugel, BP Digital and his own Eliptic Records, founded alongside Fengda Carissa. He also manages Spacebased Recordings and Minilon outlets.

Founded by Nils Weimann and Martin Glowacz in 2014, Subtil Records is a beacon for top-quality minimal techno and microhouse music, having collaborated with artists like Cosmjn, Lumieux, VRAC (Vlad Radu & Andrei Ciubuc), Hansel!, Vlad Arapasu, Piktor, Iuly.B, Vendi, Mihai Pol, Kivva, VincentIulian, Traumer, Direkt, Leanca, Brizman and Alsi, among others. The artwork for the label is signed by Juli Jah.

Opening the EP, “Deeper Love” lays out a steaming groove designed with bumping drumming patterns, eerie background textures and spiralling effects that steadily morph into a hypnotic flow as the seconds go by. With each minute more layers come in and out of focus while the carefully placed breathing moments reveal dissonant chords that become part of the whole journey.

Following, “Subsistance” reveals a tightly coiled and vibrant sonic affair designed with uncanny percussive arrangements and rotating pads that constantly create tension, making this cut a perfect transition tool for skilled selectors. On the flip, “Meta” and “Signs” dive even deeper into the realms of minimal techno delivering an exceptional sound perfect for dimly lighted dancefloors. It’s all about floating drums, warped atmospheres, ethereal pads and captivating underlying melodies. A highly recommended record right here for collectors, selectors and enthusiasts alike.
