Traumer – Temple [Subtil]
Parisian DJ and producer Traumer makes his debut on Subtil Records with “Temple”, dropping three uplifting and ear-pleasing pieces that will definitely shake dancefloors worldwide. Designed with energetic rhythms as well as with warm and immersive textures, the wax counts as yet another great addition to the label’s catalogue, who’s been delivering outstanding minimal music coming from artists like Lumieux, Cosmjn, Julian, Vlad Arapasu, Vendi, Piktor, Mihai Pol, VincentIulian and, of course, the imprint’s owners Nils Weimann and Martin Glowacz themselves, among others.
Having spent more time in the studio than behind the decks given the international context, Romain Reynaud aka Traumer kept himself busy and polished several materials like the 3×12” LP titled “Assembling Pieces” published with Berg Audio and GETTRAUM007 dispatched through his own label. Making no exception to the fingerprint sound we’re all well accustomed to, SBTL019 sure delivers magical moments.
Side A is reserved for the title track “Temple”, a bright composition that incorporates several melodic layers, all elegantly intertwined into dynamic and organic sequences. The wobbling chords add a resonant motion to the steady-paced percussive elements while the vocal samples create eerie inner and outer dimensions.
On Side B “Spheria” switches to a darker mood, keeping the drumming patterns into focus and adjusting the tempo a bit higher. The background pads evolve, rotate and fade in and out as the track plays, generating interesting contrasts. Closing the record we find “Fortuna”, a truly hypnotic piece that slowly builds on itself, transforming into a solid ethereal journey designed with subtle glitched effects, ethereal vocal narratives and a very intense breakdown.
