The iconic Romanian record label UVAR returns with the fifth instalment in their LTD Various Artists series, this time featuring a trippy and uplifting minimal selection signed by Xandru, Tulbure, Robert Apetrei and Scenicroot (Stefan Nicu aka Sublee & Aurelian Murariu). Launched back in 2017, this VA series elegantly complements the venture’s main and Black Series, so far delivering steaming sounds from artists like Vid, Lizz, Cosmjn, Rojid, Vlad Arapasu, Ada Kaleh, Brind, Faster, VincentIulian, Giuliano Lomonte, Cally, Wareika, Barut, Lumieux, Silat Beksi & Daniel Broesecke, Ted Amber and, of course, label owners themselves, Sepp and Nu Zau. This record is aimed at the dancefloor no doubt, so let’s dive in, take a closer look at the tracks and get groovy.

Side A sets off with Xandru‘s “Interesting One”, which, just as its title implies, will definitely get your attention from the very first second and get you in the mood for dancing. The shuffling drumming patterns, soft bassline and warm background textures evoke bright feelings seamlessly morphing like in a vivid daydream set at 127 bpm. Tulbure follows up with the funky affairs of “Fast And Curious”, dropping a swinging minimalistic rhythm flavoured with hazy electric sweeps, soulful guitar and synth cuts as well as super groovy breakdowns, perfect for peak-time moments at any party.

On the flipside we first feel the dubby vibrations of “Cruisin” by Robert Apetrei, whose effervescent and smoothly polished arpeggios transform into an organic narrative imbued with progressive and nu-disco influences. The journey synergises with Scenicroot’s “What Do You Think Stranger”, which closes the record with a seriously twisted sound, designed with a solid experimental approach to minimal and breakbeat.
