Local artist Vid announces his first release for 2021 to arrive soon on UVAR in the form of an amazing four-tracker titled “Machine EP”. The wax represents the second material from the freshly launched Black Series which Russian producer Swoy revealed in September last year. Managed by Sepp and Nu Zau since 2013, the label is well-known in the international scene, having a rich discography that includes productions from the likes of Andrei Ciubuc, Ada Kaleh, Ragrip, Barac, Livio & Roby, Crihan, VincentIulian and, of course, the founders themselves, among others.

Sorin Rastoaca aka Vid is definitely an iconic figure for the rominimal movement, with countless hours spent mixing and numerous inspiring releases under his belt. While some of his most notable works were published by Pleasure Zone, Memoria Recordings, Brouqade, Sound Of Vast, Otaku, Hashplant, Visage LTD or his personal playground An|dromeda, he also dispatched EPs and LPs independently on Bandcamp as well as several amazing productions using aliases like Egal 3, Bacauanu or Cumsecade. This EP perfectly incorporates his distinct style which reflects a mature sound and a forward-thinking personal vision on modern electronic music. Let’s dive in!

UVARBLK002 delivers four fresh cuts, each having its distinct narrative yet all connect to the base concept in order to tell the story. On Side A we first find “Not A Lullaby”, a crunchy piece designed with steady-paced drumming patterns, thundering basslines and numerous microlayers, glitched effects or crushed vocals. Following, “Clipe” goes for a more joyous sound where warm melodies get elegantly intertwined with all the other layers leaving behind a breezy vibe with a swing.

Side B opens with the title track “Machine” a stripped-back four by four hypnotic rhythm which renders complex machine-like effects, eerie background textures and heavily modulated vocal cuts that add even more mystery to the whole journey. Closing the 12″, “Heart” reveals a bubbling track which focuses on its wobbling bassline, funky variations and playfully arrangements. Definitely a must-have for selectors and collectors right here!
