Faster – Motivation [SCI+TEC]

A year after his debut release on Dubfire’s renowned record label SCI+TEC, Romanian artist Faster returns to the imprint with a solid three-tracker designed for the dancefloor. Titled “Motivation”, the EP represents yet another great addition to the venture’s extended catalogue which includes works signed by established and rising talents from around the world in both digital and vinyl format. 15 years into its ongoing experimentation that has pushed the sonic fusion between science and technology, SCI+TEC remains at the very forefront of electronic music with its sights set on the future.

Faster‘s interest in music began at the age of 16 when he started producing underground hip-hop. This passion soon led him to electronic music, where he quickly learned how to take over the decks and became a sought after DJ worldwide for more than 10 years. Among the labels he worked with so far we find Kurbits Records, Vinylclub, Ruere, Chelsea Hotel, The Rabbit Hole, Muted Noise, Hourglass Ltd, Acmé, Drumma, Atipic, No Time For Love and Unic, to name just a few.

Side A is reserved for the title track “Motivation”, a groovy technoid composition infused with twisted arrangements derived from highly modulated vocals, quirky bleeps, glitches and synth stabs. The driving energy of the cut is maintained throughout the record, yet both tracks on the flipside reveal a rather minimal-oriented approach. “Contactless” and “Aici” are both stripped-down of unnecessary effects or background movements, dropping a straightforward sound, focused on steady-paced drumming patterns and light complementary layers.
