Gustavo Fridman – Dios Habla Hoy (w. Sublee & Ritmico remixes) [Rhizome]

The 4th vinyl-only instalment coming from the American record label Rhizome features two original cuts from Argentinian DJ and producer Gustavo Fridman and two uplifting remixes signed by local artists Sublee and the Ritmico duo of Emi and Suciu. The record definitely adds even more magic to the imprint’s discography which so far featured amazing works from producers like JamRat (Paris Siris & Ben Jam), Glueped (Melodie & Teluric), Summit Dub, Cosmjn, Bryz, Z@P, Dragomir, Duc In Altum (Eric Frizzo Jonsson & Arjana Vrhovac Jonsson) and Kinj0.

A talented up-and-coming artist, Gustavo Fridman has already released some of his music on underground labels like Sous-Vide, WAPM Records, Welter, Tip Tap, DUB Culture, Samani and Psicodelica, while fresh cuts are announced to arrive soon via well-known ventures worldwide. For this 12″, Romanian artists Sublee, Emi and Suciu offer expanded and intriguing interpretations, making this record a must-have for collectors, selectors and enthusiasts alike.

Side A opens with the title track “Dios Habla Hoy” (God Speaks Today), an immersive minimalistic composition powered by intricate and glitching breakbeat patterns, breezy atmospheres smoothly complemented by melancholic melodies and meandering effects, delivering a nostalgic sound reminiscent of Cadenza classics. The remix from Sublee switches gears, reconstructing the original into a cosmic microhouse journey. While some tones and textures remain, a massive groove is added and new synth patterns cascade into eternity to create an emotional, dancefloor-tested cut.

On the flip, “999” drops a warm and jazzy sound designed with mysterious and quirky effects, drifting pads, spacious breathing moments and a punchy steady-paced broken beat perfect for the afterhours or lazy afternoon sessions. Ritmico closes the EP with a driving reinterpretation, revealing a low-slung and stripped-back dancefloor tool with a hypnotic rhythm.
