British record label, events & artist agency Into The Woods returns with its 4th vinyl-only instalment, this time showcasing Romanian artist Lumieux with 4 fresh tracks that embody the essence of minimal house, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in this collection of finely crafted grooves. Titled “Monster In My Dream”, the EP definitely adds extra flavour to the imprint’s growing catalogue which so far featured amazing materials from Sepp, Swoy and Alexis Cabrera.
With recent releases on Akta Records, Jamuse Records, Miden and several performances in Bucharest, London and at the Sunwaves festival, Lumieux is still riding the waves and always delivers good vibes, whether we talk about his productions or DJ sets. This EP makes no exception from what we are used to hearing from him so make sure you add this record to your collection.
Side A opens with the title track “Monster In My Dream”, a groovy stripped-down composition focused on its swinging drumming patterns and funky bassline. The complementary background pads, whispering vocal samples and spacious breakdowns add an eerie effect. Following, “Affinity” continues the journey with a warm housy sound powered by wobbling modulations and effects, catchy percussive arrangements and lush breathing moments.
On the flipside we first find “Sasi” picking up the pace, revealing an uplifting minimalistic cut that’s all about relentless beats and short synth stabs while “Say What” closes the 12″ with a rumbling rhythm perfect for peak time moments at any party. Overall, The EP delivers a laid-back yet captivating vibe that defines the signature sound of the label’s more underground offerings.
