Saktu, Matpri – Padster / Olesha (w. Cosmjn & Kirik remixes) [Saktu]

After a long break, Aleksandr “Sasha” Tsyrin aka Saktu returns to his eponymous imprint with a split EP entitled “Padster / Olesha EP” alongside all-time friend and collaborator Andrey Sorozhkin aka Matpri while also inviting Romanian artist Cosmjn and Ukrainian icon Kirik to join this outstanding sonic journey on remix duties.

The record marks the 5th release on the artist’s sublabel, while the main electronic music powerhouse Heisenberg Records continues to roll, dropping amazing materials signed by artists like Stan Yaroslavsky, Alex Adamov, Juan Zolbaran & Beatshot, Ramzsi, Andrey Loud, Alex Dam & Zambiancki, Anton Kubikov and Ruven Medici, among others. Aside from his own playgrounds, Saktu has also released some of his works via labels like Rawax, Circa Groove Records, Hossh, Enough! Music as well as Mobilee, Oblack and Ogni Tapes alongside Tobi Neumann and Dave Vega as OGNI.

Side A opens with the original take on “Padster”, an uplifting cut designed with several intertwined layers of wobbling pads, reverberating chords and inviting vocal samples that carefully merge with an energetic four-to-the-floor beat that calls out for dancing. Cosmjn‘s remix follows up with a steaming microhouse version where meandering background atmospheres elegantly meet the original pads which are now set in another scale and deliver a warmer sound.

On the flip we first find Matpri & Saktu’s “Olesha”, a low-slung minimal cut flavoured with abstract effects, carefully placed glitched elements and dissonant piano stabs while Kirik‘s reinterpretation closes the record with style, revealing a powerful steady-paced dancefloor tool, perfect for peak time moments at any party.
