Russian label Heisenberg is thrilled to announce the arrival of Michael Dop‘s highly anticipated debut EP titled “F.M.M.E.” alongside Nu Zau and Wyro on remix duties. Founded by Saktu almost a decade ago, the label has constantly provided to-quality releases in both digital and vinyl formats, showcasing numerous artists from all over the world such as Jamahr, Sonartek, Roluce, Enzo Leep, Olivian Nour, Dieru, Pheek, Matpri, Dubfound and Anton Kubikov, to mention only a tiny fraction of the producers that have contributed to the imprint’s extended catalogue.
Moscow-based artist, designer, DJ and producer Michael Dop decided to merge his favourite passions, art and music, into one creative flow instead of choosing between them. In 2008, he became one of the founders of the Slowdance art project which transformed a little idea into a record label and event series focused on conceptual electronic music, thus forming a dedicated community united in a strong belief that constantly changing music determines the perception of life and shapes people’s minds.
He’s also well-known for his Finetune live project where the sounds of modular and classical synthesizers, drum machines and groove boxes are mixed up, sometimes accompanied by his own voice creating poetic soundscapes beyond styles and genres. Michael also has an outstanding art portfolio, working with various techniques and mediums, from canvas to web, always delivering inspiring projects to the world.
Side A opens with “Makes Us – Us”, a punchy low-slung composition powered by a thundering minimalistic rhythm, abstract modulations, trippy insertions and ever-evolving background textures. The vocal cuts add an extra layer of mystery, making this cut a must-have tool for peak-time selections at any party. Following, the title track “F.M.M.E.” switches gears for a deeper sound flavoured with spiralling melodic chords and IDM-inspired synth work, thus creating a warm yet eerie atmosphere.
On the flip, Nu Zau and Wyro provide their own interpretations of A2, bringing forward equally dynamic grooves each in their own unique style. From four-to-the-floor to cosmic sonic affairs, the B-Side definitely completes the record with style, so we highly recommend it for collectors, selectors and electronic music enthusiasts alike.
