Various Artists (Olivian Nour & And Re, CL-ljud, Leanca, Lorik & Lepaya) – Sanguina 006 [Sanguina Records]

The sixth Various Artists compilation coming from Sanguina Records features amazing collaborations between Olivian Nour and And.re, Lorik and Lepaya, as well as two original cuts by CL-ljud and Leanca. Founded back in 2018 in Switzerland by Michel Degen, the imprint also runs a vinyl-only Black Series and an Unknown Artist series, focused on minimal, microhouse and closely related styles. Among the collaborating artists, we so far find Mikhu, Kepler, Prajescu, Fictiv, Herck, Fulvio Cala, Kirik, Macarie, Bucurie and dot13, while other pressings remain untitled and uncredited. SUS004 is also announced to arrive soon, so stay tuned for more music!

The VA sets off with the breezy vibe of “Weeek” by Olivian Nour & And.re, dropping a fresh summer-like sound that dwells deep in minimal. The vocal samples and the spacious breakdowns add an extra exotic vibe to the story while the steady-paced rhythm elegantly flows into “About Me” from Italian artist CL-ljud. Here, the narrative exhibits experimental touches like the ever-evolving background melodies and twisted synth work. On the flipside, Leanca delivers a solid stripped-down rhythm in the form of “Catatonia”, bringing forward a slightly darker sound, perfect for dimly lighted dancefloors and peak-time moments at any party. Lorik & Lepaya conclude the release with the hypnotic rotation of “Ohara”, making this 12″ yet another great addition to anyone’s record collection.
