Lizz – Four 23 [Hashplant]

Italian record label Hashplant brings forward its 12th vinyl-only instalment with local artist Petre Valentin aka Lizz at the controls dropping two steaming cuts in the form of “Four 23” EP. The material arrives after a recent release featuring Argenis Brito and label heads Federico Mandelli and Albert Hipman aka Enivrez Vous and surely adds even more flavour to the imprint’s discography which includes works from Marco Cassanelli, Basti Grub, Moratu, Plusculaar, Yaroslav Lenzyak, Jamahr, Dimitri Monev, Costin Rp, Silat Beksi, Mihigh, Vid, Leana and Robert Apetrei, among others.

An established figure in both local and international electronic music scenes, Lizz is always on the move or in the studio, cooking up one amazing release after another. His latest works were released in collaboration with Duboka Records, Rawax and Atipic while his next gigs will see him travel to London, Buenos Aires, Lima, Leeds, Los Angeles and New York. This EP makes no exception from the top-quality sounds we’ve been used to and already enjoys support from artists like Raresh, Priku, Barac and Cosmjn.

On the A-Side we find “Juspect”, a steady-paced cut flavoured with ever-evolving background atmospheres, mysterious vocal samples and eerie pads. The drumming patterns have enough drive to create a hypnotic affair while the breakdowns seamlessly blend with the movement of all the other layers.

On the flip there’s the title track “Four 23” which lays out a solid low-slung groove designed with crunchy beats, a roaring bassline and inviting vocals. Here, the twisted synth modulations add an extra layer of depth while the overall swinging sound makes this track a perfect tool for the dancefloor.
