Vid – Ansam [Hashplant]
Milan-based vinyl-only label Hashplant returns with another out-of-this-world pressing, this time local artist Sorin Rastoaca aka Vid being the one behind the release. Titled “Ansam”, the 12” brings forward three distinct tracks designed with solid minimalistic rhythms that combine experimental, melodic and dark themes into a mesmerising and hypnotic journey. Managed by Federico Mandelli and Albert Hipman aka Enivrèz Vous, Hashplant was founded in 2015 and since then it delivered top-notch music signed by Basti Grub, Moratu, Plusculaar, Yaroslav Lenzyak, Dimitri Monev, Costin Rp, Silat Beksi and Mihigh, amongst others.
2019 proved to be an excellent year for Vid, with releases on imprints like Forever And A Day, Sound Of Vast, AVi Records and his own playground, An|dromeda, as well as numerous appearances as a selector on various podcast platforms. Specialized in real underground music, he also performed at several events in Romania, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Under his Egal 3 alias, he recently published “Colectie De Amintiri” with the Australian label Counterculture Records, a 3×12” LP that was long-awaited and sure delivers the vibes.
🔮 Let’s dive in his latest EP and explore the tracks in more depth:
On Side A we find the title track “Ansam”, a composition infused with dark atmospheres, carefully crafted effects and modulations, as well as low-pitched vocals that add even more mystery to the whole. The steady-paced percussion and the strong bassline provide a smooth balance, best enjoyed with the lights turned down low.
Opening Side B there’s “Build A Dream”, a deeply immersive cut designed with warm pads, pulsating textures and melancholic vibrations. There’s a subtle cinematic feeling imbued in the layers, so we highly recommend to close your eyes and start drifting. Closing, “Show No Emotion” returns to the realm of abstract minimal, offering a swift frequency melter built with numerous micropatterns, bleeps and glitches. A must-have for any collector or selector!
