feeder sound exclusive premiere: Dudley Strangeways & Mortalyf – Sunday’s Steppa (Annie Errez Remix)

Leftback Records announces the launch of its sub-label Leftback Intercities with an EP titled “Sunday Steppin” dropped by Dudley Strangeways in collaboration with Mortalyf, to which a stellar remix by Annie Errez is added. This venture will be focused on releasing stripped back grooves in digital format signed by the label’s regular roster of artists as well as fresh names. The materials will be available exclusively on the imprint’s Bandcamp page for a period of four weeks prior to release on all other platforms and shops.

Founded in 2014 by Michael McLardy and Dudley Strangeways, Leftback steadily grown over the years, delivering top-notch music from artists like Matt Star, Kashawar, TIJN, Groovesh, David Gtronic, Chris Boardman, Dragosh, Miller and, of course, the label heads themselves. The imprint also organised numerous showcase events in The United Kingdom while during the recent lockdown they co-hosted the “Internal Connections” live stream marathon that brought together in the online environment 28 DJs from 5 countries.

“Sunday Steppin” reveals an exquisite collaboration between Dudley Strangeways and Leftback resident Mortalyf while Annie Errez creates a tasty low slung remix, which you can now enjoy in full-length exclusively on feeder sound:

While the original edit of “Sunday’s Steppa” offers a raw and throbbing minimal sound, the remix packs more swing and colour, having additional background textures and subtle effects that come into play. The bassline is elegantly reshaped yet it maintains it’s punching reverberation, alluring vocal cuts can also be heard from time to time and the steady-paced percussion makes the track perfect for the dancefloor.

Rolling with solid minimalistic arrangements and rhythms, the other two tracks, “The Mole” and “Flex”, provide a crisp sound built with only a few layers, to which subtle yet dynamic effects are added. The stripped-back grooves resonate with the label’s fingerprint sound and starting from today you can find the EP on Bandcamp.

The next episode of the feeder sound Live Streams will take place on the 22nd of July and will have Miss I and Pasr as guests, blending music and visual art for two hours. Join the event here!
