Sydney-based Mantra Collective Records launches with “Patior EP” signed by the well-known DJ and producer David Gtronic. The EP is designed with dark textures, solid rhythms and hypnotic patterns, revealing two original cuts and a remix delivered by local artist Vid. When it comes to the artwork, Cote is the one who provides quality and forward-thinking content, just like we are accustomed to.

Founded by Aboutjack, Whitecat and Telly, Mantra Collective showcases the very best in underground electronic dance music in Australia and throughout Asia, when touring. Throwing parties and inviting renowned artists to play, they bring forward an energetic blend of modern house, techno, minimal and beyond. Setting up a record label was the next step everyone awaited for. Exploring new environments, concepts and themes alongside Enzo Siragusa, Rich NxT, Andrey Pushkarev, Butch, Mihai Pol, DeWalta, East End Dubs, Nils Weimann, Venda, and many many others, they always deliver top-notch vibrations.

David Gtronic is an artist who’s been long involved in the scene, travelling around the world and sharing the decks with a lot of notable names. His productions have been dispatched by imprints like Vatos Locos, Suara, Monique Musique, Kina Music, Chelsea Hotel Records and Leftback, to name only a few. His distinct approach to music making incorporates bass driven, percussive sound, organic elements and a wide range of influences. From thumping techno to downtempo chillout, David‘s works prove he’s a versatile producer, always ready to amaze and delight people on the dancefloor. For this EP, he teams up with Sorin Rastoaca aka Vid, who adds his ethereal signature sound on the Reconstruction mix. With an intense activity lately, releasing mesmerising music with Sound Of Vast, AVi Records and Animae LTD, expect no less from him on this one.

Side A opens with the driving rhythm of the title track, “Patior”. The pounding beat is emphasised by glitching effects, while in the background the textures and the subtle vocal samples combine into a seamless gloomy sound. Next, there’s “Amvian” designed with a whirling bassline and overlayed layers of percussion that roll along with dubby patterns and reverberations. Grainy modulated vocal effects are also added in order to create a distinct groove, perfect for the dancefloor. On Side B we find Vid‘s haunting remix titled “Patiormvian”, a carefully crafted track that combines sounds from both original tracks into something new. The atmospheres provide a hypnotizing outcome while the rhythm flows with a steady balance. An amazing first pressing from the Australian imprint.
