feeder sound exclusive premiere: Herck – Placebo [Na Zrak Records]

Na Zrak Records presents its third vinyl release in the form of a Various Artists compilation titled “Into The Cave” that features Herck, Bryz, Sebastian Eric and label-owner Djosh. Designed with minimalistic rhythms and patterns, the theme chosen for this record aims to follow a more underground sound, flavoured with diversity and powerful grooves. With the pressing already enjoying support from many important names in the scene and with other amazing releases being dispatched in digital format, the imprint continues to function as an important beacon for electronic music worldwide, in spite of the troubling times we’re all going through right now.

Herck is well-known for his distinct style as well as for his continuous dedication to his work as a producer and DJ, being one of the most acclaimed local and international artists. His extended career includes collaborations with labels like Curtea Veche, Natural Rhythm, Razom, Muted Noise, Micro Orbit Records, Melodeum and Trick Track, to name just a few. For this VA he sticks to his immersive fingerprint sound and we’re more than happy to exclusively premiere his track in full-length.

Going past the 10-minute mark, the cut opens the wax with an abstract, steady-paced rhythm that undergoes constant morphing, bringing numerous variations to the table. The drumming seems a bit tribal at the beginning, yet is designed to be hypnotic and to lead the various gloomy textures and effects. A heavily modulated voice adds even more depth to the whole, transforming the track into a dim-lighted dancefloor masterpiece.

The other three tracks reveal slightly different takes on modern minimal, going from the melodic aspects of “Forest Visual” by Bryz, to the twisted sound of “Pay Back” by Sebastian Eric and finally to the techy reverberations of “Technology” by Djosh. Find out more about the VA from this review!
