Various – Into The Cave [Na Zrak Records]

The third pressing to arrive from Na Zrak Records features four groovy cuts signed by local artists Herck, Bryz and Sebastian Eric alongside label-head Giovanni Oriani aka Djosh. Titled “Into The Cave”, the VA is designed with delightful minimalistic influences and vibrant rhythms, offering all the nuances that modern techno music can have.

The label is well-known for both its digital and vinyl releases, with artists like Involuntary Movement, Bogdan Andrei, Octave, Rares Romanov, Dieru, Gorbani, CL-ljud, Spiri:tual and Nektar Agu contributing to the discography. For this ride, owner and founder Djosh teams up with three of the most influential DJs and producers from the Romanian scene in order to deliver an exquisite sound, perfect for any dancefloor.

Having recently collaborated with Trick Track Records, Melodeum and Micro Orbit Records, Herck drops yet another fresh and immersive composition titled “Placebo”, opening Side A with style. The track bears his fingerprint sound all over, providing abstract textures, dark tones and carefully crafted micropatterns that roll with the organic and steady-paced percussion. Following, Bryz unleashes the melodic and slightly progressive rhythm of “Forest Visual”, an amazing piece characterised by the modulated bird chirps that fall into focus. The solid bassline and the colourful synth notes manage to create an eerie ambience that can easily make one travel with his mind to a magical place, deep within the forest amidst whispering trees.

On the flipside, we first find Sebastian Eric with “Pay Back”, a twisted piece designed with vivid synth stabs and tones, stripped-down percussive elements and numerous complementary effects. There’s a subtle funky feeling embedded into the production, as well as a raw and gritty take on some of the layers. Closing, “Technology” by Djosh reveals an uncanny techy rhythm dominated by vocal samples and groovy sequences that is ready to heat up the atmosphere on peak-time moments at any party. A must-have for any collector or selector right here!
