The eleventh pressing in Kanja Records‘ catalogue is brought forward by French artist Baptiste Saint-James aka Petit Batou. Titled “Mother Nature”, the wax arrives in a limited number of copies featuring two original cuts and a remix signed by Mihai Mihalcea aka Teluric. Based in Slovenia, Kanja Records is well-known for its releases signed by F.eht, Milovan Stojanovic, Simonas Paplauskas and Daniel Gorziza, as well as for its notorious Sunday Mornings vinyl-only series where we can find artists like Just_Me, Silat Beksi, Consep, Tijn, Mihai Pol, Giash, Widovski, Ted Amber and Miroloja, to name a few.

Petit Batou started his career as a DJ and producer around 2012 in Paris, after a long time in which he explored music theory and modern electronica. In 2015 he founds Stamp Records, an imprint specialised in releasing house and techno music in both digital and vinyl format. Here, he dispatches two EPs and several tracks while other materials from him get published by Minim.All, Tzinah, Celo, Soundterrasse, 324 Records, Capodopere, Inwave, Dubgestion and Lost Classic Records. For this wax, he invites local artist Teluric to add his distinct personal touch on one of the tracks in order to add even more spice to the whole.

On Side A we find the original edits of “Substantia” and “Leaves Fall”, two melodic and engaging microhouse compositions that offer steady-paced rhythms, spacious atmospheres and deep vibrations. Both arrangements provide an elegant emotional ride, with A1 being more dynamic and A2 spinning with a subtle melancholy.

On Side B, the remix of “Leaves Fall” takes a leap towards tech house with Teluric adding more intensity to the percussive elements while keeping to the spacious background textures. Swirling effects and reverberated synth notes also come into play, maintaining the journey immersive and dreamy. The concept makes the record perfect for afterhours or for chilled moments on the dancefloor.
