Petit Batou – Pads Paradise EP [Stamp Records]
French imprint Stamp Records presents its sixth pressing in the form of “Pads Paradise EP” signed by the label’s owner Baptiste Saint-James aka Petit Batou. The 12” features two original cuts and two steaming remixes delivered by Bucurie and Piktor, the protagonist of our latest release, “Similar Feelings“. Early support comes from the likes of Janeret, Romar, Sublee and others.
Focused on the modern vibes of electronic dance music, Stamp Records is a Parisian vinyl and digital label founded in 2015 by Petit Batou. The catalogue includes many renowned and emerging artists from around the world such as Dominic Vadim, Amin Ravelle, Silat Beksi, Triptil, Andu Simion, Andrea Caioni, Suli, HFMN, Olivier Romero and Vern, to name only a few.
Baptiste Saint-James was introduced to classical and jazz music by his father when he was very young, learning music theory and playing the violin. He began listening to electronic music in college and started to produce his own tracks in his bedroom. In 2013, at the age of 22, he completely immersed himself in the underground culture by signing his first tracks on minimal house labels. Throughout time, he collaborated with Tzinah, Inwave, Capodopere, Dubgestion, Soundterrasse and Celo, while sharing the decks with artists like Fumiya Tanaka, Thomas Melchior, Laura Jones, Traumer, Robin Ordell and Primarie.
On Side A, “Pads Paradise” and “Aromatic Palette” reveal a deep dimension flavoured with melodic motifs, bright atmospheres and steady-paced percussive elements. There’s a smooth emotional vibration brought forward right here, one that connects both compositions and highlights the versatility of the producer. This feeling is passed to the B-Side where Piktor drops a sumptuous hypnotic remix of the title track and Bucurie delivers a spacious poetic rework, closing the wax with an ambient touch. A must-have for any collector or selector!
