Entoniu & Agape – Fight EP [21th Street Records]
Entoniu & Agape present the third release of their freshly founded imprint 21th Street Records in the form of “Fight EP”, a three-tracker designed with uplifting minimal tech vibes. With “City EP” and “Too Drunks EP” delivered during the course of this year, the label rapidly rises while pushing the Italian duo’s production to a wider international audience, which is already familiar with their releases on Welter, Tip Tap, Phunk Traxx, Natural Beat Recordings, Introspection Recordings, Frucht and Zeitlos Music, among others.
The EP packs three cuts, each having a distinct type of arrangement and different resonances while a common theme can be detected, subtly permeating through the whole journey. Inspired by the noise of city markets and people’s conversations or arguments that make such places special, the two producers carefully add field recordings between the layers, blending a natural ambience with the smooth techy rhythms.
“Fight #1” kicks in with a driving percussive pattern and slowly evolves into a pumping piece that includes swinging synth stabs, bright background textures and vast breakdowns. Following, “Fight #2” explores a darker sound dimension with equally solid drumming at its core. Here, the eerie effects are elegantly complemented by a wobbling bassline, numerous micro insertions and several rhythmic variations. Closing the EP, “Fight #3” reveals a steady-paced composition where the vocal cuts fall into focus, receiving extended reverberations that roll along with all the elements from the first second to the last.
