Misbits’ Pick: Arapu – Wasted Ego [UNDERSTAND]

Only 7 releases in 6 years for a record label? Sounds a bit counter-productive but then we’re talking about Understand, a Romanian record label whose origins are lost somewhere into the Bucharest underground scene of the early 2000s’. Focused on the rather experimental side of techno, the imprint made a powerful statement with its debut EP back in 2011: Cezar Lazar’s amazing Din Gând În Când. From that moment on, Prasleh, Rhadoo, Amorf and Dubtil framed their audio works under the boundaries-less Understand, setting the bar pretty high (and the discogs prices, also) for the next artists to be featured here.

Arapu - Wasted Ego [UNDERSTAND]So, as our mindsets are tuned into the expect the unexpected Understand concept, we’re were not taken by surprise with Arapu’s Wasted Ego: a 2-tracker proposing a weird breed of dusty techno, fast paced on the bassline level, with strokes of obsessive voices and brushes of crisp percussions. You know, that kind of sound that would take your electronic soul out of your body and make it dance next to you in the middle of the dancefloor.

As with every Understand release, this is a fast selling one so be sure you’ll grab your copy from here (audio samples also available)
