Alter Hour‘s 7th vinyl-only release features the distinctive, stripped-back sound of Lithuanian artist Vitas Merkel aka Modebaku, topped with a remix by mastermind Ion Ludwig. “Coded EP” provides two fresh and pumping original cuts and one twisted dubby reinterpretation of A2, adding even more magic to the British venture’s expanding catalogue which so far includes outstanding productions from artists like Leanca, Sonohat, Macarie, Lulla, Ted Amber, Robert Apetrei, Vadim Oslov and Will Schweppe aka Haf.
With Hoxton Records, Dialogue London, U Series and Ventriloc (alongside Gabriele Mancino) under his belt of memorable international achievements, Modebaku delivers the vibes each time he’s behind the decks or in the studio. You can enjoy his releases with The Senss, Perceive, Whoyostro, Baile Musik, Teleport, Deep Tech Records, Yoruba Grooves and DubGestion, while fresh sounds are always in the making.
“Code 001” and “Code 002” are equally engaging and connected as we set sails on warm and melancholic textures powered by uplifting drumming patterns, heavily modulated vocal samples and lush breathing spaces that elegantly morph into wobbling minimalistic grooves perfect for already warmed-up dancefloors. Side B is reserved for Ion Ludwig‘s remix which takes the original version through several stages, smoothly combining solid techno with subtle dub and ambient nuances.
