Recently, Miami has been dancing to sublime summer rhythms and textures, courtesy of Imbue. Once more, the dynamic trio embarks on a celestial voyage, delivering the 12th release on Re.Face Records‘ vinyl-only and Limited Series by laying out an exquisite display of flair and musical sophistication. “Overlook EP” offers a seamless blend of dreamy electric guitar riffs and impeccably tight grooves rooted in minimal and breakbeat.
Maximiliano Cortes, Ignacio Vallejo and Eduardo Alvarez aka Imbue are making waves in the international underground electronic music scene with their distinct approach to music-making, influenced by a variety of styles and genres. Throughout time, they had memorable live performances and collaborated with labels like Default and Synkronized while most of their productions were dispatched through their own self-titled record label.
Delivering top-quality sounds to the people since 2016, Italian imprint Re.Face Records surely stands out as a beacon for the worldwide community. Side A opens with the warm and melancholic vibes of “Boy With Apple”, bringing forward an intense emotional sound flavoured with meandering guitar chords, pulsating backgrounds, reverberating broken beats and spacious breakdowns that can make anyone start daydreaming in seconds. Following, the title track “Overlook” dives deeper and raises the tempo, dropping a highly uplifting sonic affair designed with hypnotic and ever-evolving layers that call for dancing.
On the flip, “Model 29” brings forward a dynamic funky sound enriched by the phased guitar notes that fall into focus here as well as by the wobbling basslines that create a swinging balance with the other elements. Closing the record, “Dawn” takes the journey down a notch, delivering a relaxed atmosphere with subtle dissonant patterns, rotating drumming patterns and a chilled story to tell.
