Various – Edition 3 [Bread And Butter Recordings]
After the recent release of Edition 2 in August, London-based imprint Bread And Butter Recordings returns with yet another Various Artists compilation, this time featuring Piktor, Miroloja and Triptil. Titled Edition 3, the 12″ features a warm and engaging minimal sound that arrives in a limited number of copies. Managed by Max Frisina, the label so far published productions signed by DoubtingThomas, Clive Henry & Blind Minded, Guido Schneider, Rowlanz, Direkt, Sublee and Vern, while also running a podcast series on soundcloud and a monthly radio show with Max and guest DJs on the underground radio station Bloop London.
Side A is reserved for Piktor‘s “Everythingship”, a joyous composition designed with a steady-paced percussive core, bright pads, airy textures and numerous micro effects that add an eerie aspect to the whole journey. The breakdowns leave enough breathing space for all the elements to come in and out of focus, making this piece perfect for a laid-back afternoon selection. On Side B we first find “Karezze” by Miroloja, a twisted and immersive track that explores contrasts, going from light tones to darker sequences while the roaring bassline leads some of the arrangements beyond. The stripped-down vibrations of “Mrwho!” by Triptil close the VA with style, providing a deep feeling emphasised by a wobbling bassline, subtly reverberating piano notes, echoed vocal cuts and an overall chilled atmosphere. A highly recommended record right here!
