Nechkin – Overmoon (w. Herck Remix) [Miden]
The third vinyl pressing coming from the Italian record label Miden features two original cuts by Russian artist Nechkin and a steaming remix from local artist Herck in the form of “Overmoon” EP. Following Vadim Oslov‘s “Da Gong” and Lumieux‘s “Travel By Touring Machine” EPs, the record surely adds even more magic to the imprint’s discographic history which also counts 12 outstanding digital releases that enjoyed massive support from artists like Petre Inspirescu, Barac, Mihigh, Sepp, Vlad Arapasu, Cosmjn, Viceversa and many others.
Constantin Nechkin is well-known for his intense activity in the underground electronic music scene, having constant performances at Meduza Club in Moscow as well as Lift 12, Union, Base Club and Mutabor. Recently, he released some of his own productions on Antrakt Records and independently, on Bandcamp. On the remix we have Herck, who’s been doing lots of gigs, edits and remixes lately while also dropping “Attack The Block EP” on Kiku, as the imprint’s first vinyl release.
Side A is reserved for the title track “Overmoon” and Herck‘s reinterpretation, both offering a solid dose of breaks and minimal techno. While the original delivers an intense blend of broken beats, tension-building textures and eerie glitched vocal samples, the remix drops a low-slung dark groove designed with the artist’s fingerprint sound we all know and love. Prepare for some thrilling vibes coming from this one as the effects are truly hypnotic.
On the flipside, “Ettro” switches gears and dives deep into exotic sonic affairs, rendering a mantra-like vocal sample into focus while the drumming follows up with no mistakes, laying out a steady-paced tempo perfect for extended introspective moments.
