The 4th vinyl-only pressing coming from the British record label discotech invites Monika Ross to take over the sound with “Space Is The Place EP” alongside Subb-An on remix duties. The record arrives in a limited number of only 300 copies with early support coming from artists like Chris Stussy, Arapu, Rossko, DJ W!LD, Michael Bibi, Seb Zito, Casey Spillman and Rich NxT among others.

Australian-born Monika Ross is an artist who constantly raises her head above the barrier as she easily evades categorisation. Her sets and productions reflect a wealth of ideas and creativity, with sounds deeply rooted in deep organic dub, jazz, techno or house always adding the right amount of sensuality to her unique sonic affairs. Working as a professional audio engineer for BBC London as well as releasing with labels such as Serialism, Metroline Limited, Organic Art Movement, Talman and Fake Records adds extra magic to her musical background while her ability to stimulate a crowd makes her a much sought after artist nowadays.

The EP opens with the title track “Space Is The Place”, a dancefloor-ready tool powered by subtle layer movements, solid house influences and vocal intermissions that can be heard throughout the whole EP, laying out mysterious adventures through simple yet conclusive messages. Subb-An‘s remix adds an extra dose of techno and drive to the whole story, completing Side A with style.

On the flipside “Fortune Teller” lays out a solid minimal techno rhythm elegantly combined with rap lyrics here and there while “Power Of The Erb” dives deep into breakbeat and experimental as the closing cut, “Deadline For Red Wine” drifts into uptempo drum and bass music, proving once more Monika’s versatility when it comes to music making. A highly recommended 12″ right here for collectors and selectors alike!
