DJ W!LD – Tokyo Palace [Snork Enterprises]
After his first successful release on Snork Enterprises in 2012, DJ W!LD returns to the label with a steaming EP titled “Tokyo Palace”. The four-tracker features a “wild”, distinct style of techno, infused with deep and funky cuts, acid house and pounding rhythms.
Guillaume Duchastel de Montrouge aka DJ W!LD is a French music maker and selector with an intense activity in the electronic dance music scene spaning for many years. He’s the founder of W Label, Catwash Records, and more recently the co-founder of DAILYCID MUSIC. Always delivering engaging music, he steadily grew from being a part of the Parisian underground to perform as a resident DJ at some of the world’s most acclaimed clubs. He also shared the decks with a lot of renowned artists from all over the world and his works were dispatched by labels like RKDS, Robsoul, Love Letters From Oslo, OFF Recordings, Act Natural, Roush, and many many others. With a discography that packs more than three hundred published tracks and with more upcoming releases, Guillaume sure has more installed for the future.
Snork Enterprises and its sub-labels Feinwerk, Relax 2000 and Share Yourself! has been going on a journey deep down under the ground, where the light is dark and the bass is booming. With more than 120 releases in its catalogue, signed by a lot of important names in the house and techno music scene such as Jens Zimmerman, Phil Kieran, Cristian Vogel, Daze Maxim, Konstantin Sibold and Neil Landstrumm, the imprint stands as a solid presence in the scene.
Side A firstly reveals the title track “Tokyo Palace”, a pounding cut infused with solid percussion and reverberating vocal samples that set the pace of the EP and prepare us for launching into a deep atmospheric space trip. Next, there’s “Back from South”, a catchy rhythm infused with an amazingly modulated acidic bassline. Keeping the energy, on the flipside we find “The Break”, a hard thumping sound, ready to blast the sound system on any dancefloor. “Tattoo” closes the wax on a funky vibe as well, making this material a true “snorky” release, surprising and super groovy.
