Derek Carr – Archive LP 4×12″ [Pariter]
After a “Prelude” edition that included Yossi Amoyal’s edits was released earlier this year announcing this upcoming moment, the time has come for the legendary DJ and producer Derek Carr to present his “Archive LP” on Pariter, one of the main sublabels of Sushitech Records. Arriving in a 4×12″ gatefold package, the album reveals 16 rare and unreleased cuts that were written sometime between the late ’90s and early ’00s. Now everybody has the chance to hear some of the best recordings of the Irish mastermind, designed with raw 909 grooves, hypnotic acid lines and beautiful Detroit-influenced melodies.
One of the most acclaimed names in the international electronic music scene, Derek Carr has been around making waves for more than two decades now, having countless performances and collaborations under his belt as well as numerous releases with labels like Psychonavigation Records, FireScope, Revoke Subwax Excursions, Nice & Nasty, Omni Music, Why So Series, For Those That Knoe, Polen, Love Notes, Distant Worlds and his own Trident Recordings, among many others.
Infused with the artist’s unique Detroit-tinged sound, this selection of tracks delivers everything a true electronic music enthusiast can dream of, as some edits and patterns present here bring back some good old memories from back in the days when they were heard in Derek’s live sets here and there, without being brought to the light of day, all until now.
From vibrant melodic techno cuts, swinging deep techno arrangements and wobbling acidic sequences to bubbling breaks, dubby takes and immersive downtempo soundscapes, “Archive LP” truly represents a statement of mastery signed by one of the most influential electronic music artists of all time. Expect a sonic journey like no other, something special that only arrives once or twice in a lifetime.
We’re sure Derek’s hard drives, tapes and unreleased recordings hide other gems, yet only time will tell when or where we can hear and dance to them. Until that moment comes, we must say that this 4×12″ release right here is a must-have for collectors, selectors and enthusiasts alike.
