Derek Carr – Liquid Industries EP
The 4th installment on Nu Zau‘s Why so Series comes all the way from Ireland with Derek Carr being the man behind the curtain this time around. With a sound that is more in the dance floor oriented area of techno and tech house, Derek has been steadily growing in the past years and this EP shows exactly that.
Theta starts us off here with a very dubby affair full of rolling grooves covered with a strong but subtle bass line that gives a sense of a continuity that will make you float away into the morning sun while dancing your troubles away.
Beware of that morning sun, because there will be a Solar Storm next. A more deep vibe here but with some strong Detroit sounds in the background. The sister track Sub System 7 goes in the same direction but with a more direct and raw approach that gives the sense of a proper techno track.
Exodus II is the closing track and it delivers a very interesting mix of dark but melodic sounds combined lovely with some cheeky hi-hats and funky background noises.
