Andrey Djackonda – Retrospectives EP [Conceptual Deep]
The latest record to be released by Conceptual Records comes from their freshly launched Conceptual Deep series and the first artist that takes lead is non-other than label head himself, Andrey Djackonda, who drops four fresh steaming cuts smoothly packed into “Retrospectives EP”. Expect various shades of house-infused sounds, stretched across a diversity of groovy rhythms and textures, from body-moving swings to smooth deep lounge vibes. Founded back in 2013, the label is widely known for its amazing releases, signed by artists like Bryz, Minube, Womack, First For Nieto, Emiliano Martini, Basic 96, Fictiv, Alan Becker, Dubphone and many many others.
Andrey Djackonda is a music producer and label owner from Moldova. In 1996 he started studying piano and music theory and in 2010 he dived into production, dropping tracks in the atmospheric drum & bass and deep house genres. 2015 was a big year for him, as his first LP, “Stralucirea Sentimentelor Sterse”, ranked 1st place on Beatport’s Top 100 Minimal Releases Chart in just 3 days from its release. Nowadays, he dispatches vinyl and digital releases on his label Conceptual and many others as well, cooperating with artists such as Yaroslav Lenzyak, Gorbani, Alan Castro, Trik and Osvit. He’s also a part of alternative genre projects like Major-Minor (electronica) and Space.exe (post-rock, ambient-rock). His philosophy is that “music has no limits”.
Side A rolls in with the uplifting vibes of “Tell Me”, a perfect piece for peak time moments at any party. The steaming percussive arrangements are elegantly complemented by a wobbling bassline, alluring pads and resonating vocal samples that call for a dance. Following, “Toy” renders a more techy swing while keeping to the energy of the first track. The pumping tempo, the carefully placed glitches and micro layers unleash an electric sound that will make you want to move your body in seconds.
On the flipside, the title track “Retrospectives” switches to a melancholic mood where the organic textures and chords fall into focus while the beat goes deeper into smooth old-school dimensions. Feel the music, close your eyes and drift away. The closing cut, “Isoul”, takes the journey into the afterhours, remaining true to the previous frequencies. A highly recommended record right here for collectors, selectors as well as deep tech, deep house and classic house music enthusiasts.
