After being announced for some time now, Luciano‘s “Hakuna Matata” EP will finally hit the shelves of selected record stores worldwide next month. Marking the 21st release coming from the respected label Rawax, the material drops two steaming minimal techno tracks designed with the maestro’s fingerprint sound which will surely take dancefloors by storm.
Headed by Robert Drewek and based in Germany, Rawax operates on many levels, covering a large spectrum of electronic music through its main imprint as well as its counterparts Chiwax, Dubwax, Electrowax, Housewax, Microwax, Motor City Edition, West Coast Edition and Traxx Series. It’s definitely nice to see Cadenza’s head chef on the label’s roster alongside so many other talented artists that contributed with their sound to the massive and inspiring catalogue.
“Hakuna Matata” is a Swahili phrase that gained popularity through Disney’s animated film The Lion King as part of the soundtrack composed by Sir Elton John in 1994. Translated as “There are no worries”, it represents a lighthearted approach to life, encouraging individuals to let go of their concerns and live in the present moment.
Starting from this premise and concept, the two tracks Luciano reveals here deliver a warm and breezy sound focused on steady-paced rhythms. While “Assanti Sana” incorporates phased and heavily distorted modulations that fluctuate in intensity throughout the cut and “In Xs” switches gears for a slower tempo, both tracks have their percussion patterns as the main focal point, creating a hypnotic drive designed with clockwork precision. Just let your thoughts go and let your body freely move to the beats.
