Various – Auroom 002 [Auroom]
After a successful first release signed by Cally, Bryz, Sebastian Eric and label founder Oana Leca, Auroom returns with its second vinyl, a Various Artists compilation featuring local artists Dragos Ungureanu, Vlf and Herck. With a focus on delivering minimal, microhouse, experimental techno and deep tech sounds exclusively on vinyl, the label stands out with its groovy and playful music.
Dragos Ungureanu‘s unique sound is well regarded among fellow underground DJs and has recently seen him on tour across Europe. Also a regular at Fabric London, he shared the decks with artists like Praslea, Barac, Sammy Dee, Bill Patrick, Luca Rosa and many others. In 2014 he becomes resident at Keep On Going and he enchanted a lot of people with his selections and productions ever since. Among the labels he worked with, we mention Derivat Records, PianoForest and Music Is Art.
Valentin Florea aka Vlf (Very Low Frequency) lets the music speak for himself, through low, enhanced and pushed-back frequencies associated with microhouse and minimalistic modern electronic music. He played alongside the biggest names in the Rominimal scene and he’s a resident of Bipolar House, one of the pioneering underground platforms in Bucharest. His productions have been dispatched by labels like Vivus, Tzinah, Vedana Records and Vandalism Musique Group.
Another well-known local producer and DJ to be featured on Auroom 002 is Herck, which we all know for his beautiful releases on Curtea Veche, Natural Rhythm, Tzinah, Muted Noise and Complatt, among many others. His distinct sound captures micropatterns and groovy percussions elegantly blended with lush textures or intricate melodies. When behind the decks, he sure does an excellent job, as he is one of the most talented local selectors that spreads the groove around the world in company with renowned names from the scene.
The VA opens with Dragos Ungureanu and his bouncy composition titled “My Room”. A driven stripped-down rhythm powered by a deep bassline and strong sub-bass notes. The track builds tension as it flows elegantly into Vlf‘s groovy cut, titled “Chastity”. The melodic synths and the bright background textures are designed to mix with the percussion into a colourful dance of emotions. On the flipside, Herck delivers “Septet”, a dark minimalistic cut, infused with haunting low pitched vocal samples and intricate glitches. Definitely a selection that stands out and for sure more delicious treats are on the way from Auroom.
