How’s it like with you guys?
I AGREE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A COUPLE OF EXCEPTIONAL BANDS THERE IS NO MORE CASUAL SEX, COKE, AND WHISKEY BUT I HAVE MY FAITH IN R’N’R DREAM.
FOR THE CHARLATANS WE ARE COMING OUT OF A DRUG INDUCED NIGHTMARE, AND I AM OF COURSE LEADING THE WAY.
2. Tim, are you off Diet Coke yet? Have your lyrics/music changed in any way after turning to diet coke and bananas?
MY LYRICS BECAME MORE FIZZY AND FRUITY. THANKFULLY I AM ALRIGHT NOW, BACK TO WRITING STREAMS OF CONSCIOUSNESS.
3. How do you guys make your music? Do each of you work independently, and then on the last two weeks you all get together and just fine tune everything, or is more of a collaborative process, where you feed off
of each other’s creativity?
WE WORK INDEPENDENTLY, AND WE GET TOGETHER TO COLLABORATE, WE KINDA DON’T HAVE ANY RULES , WE CHANGE THE ENVIROMENT EVERY ALBUM.
4. Your path from an indie label, to Universal and then to releasing a free-to-download album is rather strange.. What made you want to release the free-to-download album?
WE KINDA CAME FULL CIRCLE BECAUSE. AFTER UNIVERSAL DROPPED US WE SIGNED TO SANCTUARY AND DID AN ALBUM WITH THEM (SIMPATICO). WHEN IT CAME TO THINK ABOUT THE RECORD AFTER WE HAD TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER DOING ANOTHER RECORD WITH SANCTUARY BECAUSE ALTHOUGH THEY WANTED TO GIVE US THE WHOLE AGREED ADVANCE TO DO THE RECORD THERE WERE STRONG RUMOURS AND EVIDENCE THAT THEY WERE ABOUT TO GO BUST!
WE DECIDED TO MAKE OUR OWN RECORD, WITH OUR OWN MONEY AND AS THE ULTIMATE GESTURE GIVE IT AWAY FREEE ON THE INTERNET.
SANCTUARY GOT BOUGHT OUT BY UNIVERSAL WHICH IS IRONIC. AND WE GAVE AWAY APPROX 1 MILLION COPIES OF YOU CROSS MY PATH. WE THINK IT’S A COOL STORY
5. You’ve played in Bucharest before, opening for The Rolling Stones; what impression did the city/the crowd make on you?
WE LOVE BUCHAREST I HAVE A ROMANIAN FRIEND IN LOS ANGELES WHO TELLS ME THE LIVE CONCERT WE PLAYED WAS ON THE TELEVISION? GREAT!
