Worldwide known as a vanguard reference for advanced arts, Barcelona’s Sónar celebrates its 29th edition. The International Festival of Music, Creativity and Technology is once again holding its eagerly awaited June event in 2022, in its usual format and venues: across three days at the Fira Montjuïc and two nights at Fira Gran Via.
Sónar 2022 features more than 100 shows and a total of 150 artists across 10 stages, with much-anticipated returns from global icons and new shows especially created for the festival. The most noteworthy current names of electronic music will meet emerging and established talents from popular culture.
The Chemical Brothers, The Blaze, Arca, Eric Prydz, Moderat, Bonobo, C.Tangana, Charlotte de Witte, The Blessed Madonna, Nathy Peluso, Headie One, Agoria, Polo & Pan, Lyra Pramuk, Maria Arnal i Marcel Bagés present ‘Hiperutopía’, Samantha Hudson, Morad & over 100 artists.
Sónar+D takes a leap forward this year: introducing new spaces; occupying all of the Palau de Congressos; and inaugurating two new areas. SonarÁgora will host debates, while the new Stage+D is dedicated to talks with a strong audiovisual component and hybrid performances that sit between conference and concert.
The Sónar international tour for 2022 has already kicked off. The 6th edition of Sónar Istanbul (held on the 18 and 19 March), and the 1st edition of Sónar Lisbon (8, 9 and 10 April) means that this year Sónar will exceed the 100 editions held to date in 35 cities in 20 countries.
