Let’s go for a ride on a carousel of delightful house and techno flavoured rhythms with Karina as our guest for this week’s episode of feeder sound podcast series.
With one foot in New York and the other firmly in Berlin, the place where you can find the best clubs in the world, Karina is one artist to watch out for. These two huge influences along with her international upbringing in Norway, Egypt and Poland as well as her creative multilingual mindset all shine brightly through her music. Appreciating the fundamentals of raw Chicago and Detroit house music, her trademark style fuses elements of the two together with the minimalistic, forward-thinking deep house that has become synonymous with her sound.
Never afraid to stray from the norm and always keen to experiment with something outside of the traditional house/techno paradigm, her vinyl selection is seductive, laid-back and hypnotic while all the time retaining a driving, motivating rhythm. For ten years Karina lived and worked on the famous Mediterranean island of Ibiza, getting involved in the action with some of the biggest promoters in the music industry such as Cocoon and Monza. An avid collector and player of all things vinyl, she is also one of the residents and creators of Ibiza’s most successful weekly open-air party, The Zoo Project. While in Berlin, she enjoys spending time in the studio whilst playing at venues such as Kater Holzig, Kater Blau or Crack Belmer. As a music producer, she collaborated with labels like God Particle, Castle Hill Records, Cymawax and recently with the NYC-based imprint Absence Seizure.
“Extraordinary impressions, pictures of beautiful people and raw landscapes from my trip to Armenia and Georgia, were on my mind when I went to the studio to record this podcast. The last few weeks have been hugely inspiring and for sure shine through in this dubby mix. An eclectic journey through new and old timeless music from all across the globe. All in one take, vinyl only. Enjoy!” – Karina
feeder sound 228 mixed by Karina kicks-in with smooth deep house vibes that elegantly evolve into dub-infused compositions, exotic rhythms and groovy cuts.
