Our exhibition, which focuses on Eat Art and cultural archaeology inherent in Daniel Spoerri’s object art, is the first one presenting the artist’s original artworks in Romania.

▹ ABOUT THE ARTIST
Daniel Spoerri (1930) started his artistic career as a ballet dancer, then he tried his luck in the world of the theatre and literature. Still, he became world famous in the field of fine arts, when at the age of thirty he created his first snare pictures (tableau-piège): the usual remains, after meals, of dirty dishes, empty glasses, ashtray and cigarette buds fixed on table, chair or other kind of support which, turned from their everyday, horizontal into vertical position, hang on the wall as pictures.
Connecting the dining scene with fine arts did not stop there: at the beginning of the seventies Spoerri already figured in the Western European common consciousness as the notorious founder of the artistic trend called Eat Art.
The event is part of the pulzArt 6 Contemporary Arts Festival program series.

Kiállításunk, mely az Eat Artra és a romániai származású Daniel Spoerri objektművészetében testet öltő kulturális archeológiára fókuszál, a művész első eredeti műveket bemutató tárlata Romániában.

▹ A MŰVÉSZRŐL
Daniel Spoerri (1930) művészi karrierjét balett-táncosként kezdte, majd a színház és az irodalom világában próbált szerencsét. Mégis képzőművészként vált világhírűvé, amikor harminc évesen megalkotta az első csapdaképeket: piszkos edények, üres üvegek, hamutartó és cigarettacsikkek asztalra, székre vagy másfajta alátétre rögzített, jellemzően étkezés utáni maradványegyütteseit, melyek köznapi, vízszintes helyzetükből függőlegesbe fordítva, képként lógnak a falon.
Az étkezési szituáció összekapcsolása a képzőművészettel nem állt meg ennyivel: a hetvenes évek elején Spoerri már a napjainkban is elevenen élő Eat Art művészeti irányzat híres-hírhedt megalapítójaként szerepelt a nyugat-európai köztudatban.

▹ Expoziția poate fi vizitată până la 30 noiembrie 2018, în fiecare zi cu excepția zilei de luni, între orele 11-19.
Pentru prima dată în România, Expoziţia noastră prezintă lucrări originale ale artistului şi este construită în jurul Eat Art şi Object Art – concepte dezvoltate de Daniel Spoerri, artist originar din România.

▹ DESPRE ARTIST
Daniel Spoerri (1930) şi-a început cariera artistică ca dansator de balet, apoi şi-a încercat norocul în lumea teatrului şi a literaturii. Totuşi, recunoaşterea internaţională a obţinut-o ca artist plastic, la 30 de ani, când a creat primele tablouri-capcană: după un festin, masa – cu toate obiectele, detaliile și resturile ei (vase murdare, sticle goale, scrumieră cu mucuri de ţigară) – este fixată şi transformată într-un tablou expus pe perete; adică, obiectele sunt fixate pe masă, pe scaun sau alt tip de suport, apoi, prin schimbarea planului, poziţia orizontală devine verticală, iar colajele atârnă pe pereţi, asemenea unor tablouri.
Transformarea unor momente culinare în artă plastică nu s-a oprit aici. La începutul anilor ’70, Spoerri se impusese deja în lumea artistică din Europa de Vest drept fondatorul conceptului Eat Art – un curent artistic rămas viu până în zilele noastre.
