We have the pleasure of announcing that our online gallery has expanded its art collection with a unique artwork by Lux, titled “Class of ’85”.
In the electrifying canvas painting titled “Class of ’85“, the artist Lux invites viewers to a nostalgic yet contemporary journey through a vivid tapestry of red, urban energy, and the vibrant beats of hip-hop music. This captivating artwork serves as a dynamic homage to the rebellious spirit of the ’80s while seamlessly weaving in the modern echoes of graffiti culture.
A charismatic figure takes centre stage. Sporting a big, contagious smile with gleaming white teeth and eyes that radiate pure happiness, the subject embodies the carefree exuberance of the ’80s. Lux, a Romanian graffiti writer from Timișoara, masterfully captures the essence of street culture, breathing life into the canvas with an unmistakable flair.
The focal point of the piece is a captivating 3-hole knitted mask that the figure proudly dons. This mask becomes a canvas within itself, adorned with bombs and throws‘ that tell a dynamic story. Lux infuses the mask with pulsating energy, each colourful graffiti bomb is done in a different style. The boombox and the quote “protect ya neck” resonate with the beats and rhythms of early hip-hop music.
“Class of ’85” is not just a visual feast; it’s a contemporary narrative that bridges the ’80s with the spirit of today’s urban culture. Lux‘s artwork pays homage to the rebellious energy of the past while embracing the influence of underground culture, creating a piece that is both a celebration of artistic evolution and a reflection of the enduring vibrancy of youth culture.
