Msero – „Graffiti lava” 2022, is a spray painting on a 90 x 40 cm cotton canvas.
With great enthusiasm, we present a new and rare piece of the local culture under the form of a canvas painted by legendary graffiti writer Msero.
Msero is a Romanian artist who lives and works in Bucharest, but his long passion for graffiti keeps him constantly on the road chasing new trains in EU, US and other continents.
From such a prolific and active writer, you could expect a lot of artworks as well, but with Mser this is not the case. As he prefer to exhibit his works on urban walls, metros and trains, he rarely paints on canvas or paper. We can only imagine that it requires a lot more time to obtain the same amazing results on canvas, because of the difficulty to paint all the details on a smaller scale.
Titled „Graffiti lava”, and measuring 90 x 40 cm, the canvas was painted in 2022, in Romania. The vibrant and dynamic canvas created by Mser, is showcasing the artist’s distinctive style and mastery of graffiti lettering. This artwork is a captivating exploration of colour, composition, and urban expression through lettering forms.
At the centre of attention is the artist’s name, MSERO, rendered in his own unique take on the graffiti lettering style called block letters. We published an article about Msero that gathered a lot of attention on social media, with many comments and reactions from readers, supporters, and followers. With so many paintings in the EU and the US, his graffiti style either pleases the viewer or drives some people nuts. In his letters, Mser can condense multiple references and graffiti elements, combined with typographic and calligraphic elements. Over the years, Mser painted graffiti pieces with more than 300 different names but using his legible style of creating the letters, you can almost recognize even his unusual monikers.
Quite the opposite of his intense activity Msero rarely paints on canvas. He can paint over 300 walls, trains, subways, and tramways in a year, but he paints only a few canvases. Although Msero is a skilled graffiti writer who can paint super fast when he applies similar techniques to canvas, he must expend more time on the details than in any of his outdoor works. He can spend weeks and even a few months until he considers an artwork finished. The results are magnificent, and the clarity of the letters and the subtle details let your eyes get into the image and open your imagination.
