Description
LBWS Cat – Snake Island (Zmiinyi Island)
fridge magnet, 9 x 9 cm
This fridge magnet features LBWS Cat’s interpretation of Snake Island (Zmiinyi Island), a symbol that has become emblematic of Ukrainian resistance. Rendered in the artist’s bold, graphic style, the composition transforms a moment of defiance into a compact, everyday object.
The cat figure acts as a stand-in for collective resolve, blending humor with political clarity. By placing a charged symbol into the domestic space of a fridge magnet, the work collapses the distance between global events and daily life, turning remembrance and stance into something quietly present.
Created by Ukrainian artist LBWS Cat, now based in Bucharest, the piece reflects a practice that reworks contemporary history through character-driven visual language.
