Description
LBWS Cat – 68 Ukraine Will Be Free (Bandurist Cat)
fridge magnet, 9 x 9 cm
This fridge magnet depicts the bandurist cat, titled “68 Ukraine will be free,” referencing both Ukrainian cultural heritage and the ongoing struggle for independence. The bandura – an iconic traditional instrument -anchors the image in historical continuity, while the title projects it forward as a statement of endurance. Combining folk symbolism with graphic immediacy, the work balances tenderness and determination. The cat figure becomes both storyteller and witness, carrying cultural memory into a contemporary visual form.
Produced by Ukrainian artist LBWS Cat, now living in Bucharest, this magnet functions as a small-format declaration—part cultural marker, part political affirmation, embedded in everyday space.
