Paris-born Cesar Merveille always considered dance music to be about having fun and being creative while he steadily dived deeper into uncharted frequencies, becoming a visionary explorer of styles, genres and sound recording techniques. His love for various analog machines as well as for the turntables led him on the path to perform at numerous label parties, international festivals and underground events. He’s also deeply involved and dedicated to projects like JAC and Midminuit on behalf of Hotel Costes alongside Adrien de Maublanc, Julien Quentin and Yonatan Levi or Sweatshop Boys with Lee Curtiss and Ryan Crosson.
His latest project VIZAR reveals an inspiring live performance alongside Viken Arman. They already enjoy an amazing residency at Club Der Visionaere in Berlin where they recently played a live 4h set this summer while their first EP is set to be released in early 2024 with remixes from Luciano and Traumer. Here’s what he has to say about this:
“Viken Arman and myself have been making music together for a long time and we felt it’s about time we take it out of the studio.”
His often collaborations with Cadenza and Visionquest propelled him to the world stage, while other memorable materials have been dispatched via labels like Safari Electronique, Private Gold, Serialism Records, GFD, Unleash Records, Leftroom and Drumma, among others. In 2013 he launched Roche Madame, bringing forward inspiring productions under aliases like C.S.R. and Csr7000 together with valuable tracks from artists like Sam O’Somen, Herck, Felipe Valenzuela, Arapu, Giuliano Lomonte, Alexis Cabrera, Kamran Sadeghi and Maia Von Lekow. The Roche Noire offshoot sublabel so far features 4 outstanding DJ tools signed by Niko Maxen.
