Various Artists – ATLAS001 [WaxAtlast]

Atlanta based record label WaxAtlast presents its first release in the form of a Various Artists compilation featuring Herck, Faster, Yaroslav Lenzyak and Toi. The stunning ink splatter disc takes its passengers through a gradient of various cosmic soundscapes. It moves subtly, yet hypnotic, creating atmospheric mysteries with an expressive, forward-thinking story. With a debut like this, the freshly established imprint is ready to set the tone for the rest of the year, when it comes to electronic dance music in the United States.

Enjoying support from many well-known artists, the label also got involved in organizing a series of parties where SIT, Barac, Melodie, Faster and others, played for the first time in the capital city of the state of Georgia.

Known for his releases with Natural Rhythm, Mood 24, Fake Records, Complatt, Auroom, Muted Noise, Tzinah, Roche Madame, and many others, Herck is a constant presence in the Romanian underground techno scene. His intricate compositions and sublime arrangements, as well as his vibrant DJ sets, assured him a place amongst Romania’s finest. Joining him on this wax, local hero Faster contributes with his own vibe, a refreshing minimalistic sound that we all know and like. Producer, DJ and owner of Ruere Records, he enjoys being on the roster of Sunrise Agency and delivering top-notch selections at parties. His productions always have a groovy and deep sound, and you can find them in the catalogues of labels like Kurbits Records, Vinyl Club, The Rabbit Hole, Hourglass LTD, Drumma, and UVAR, to name a few.

Ukraine native Yaroslav Lenzyak, brings forward a sweet symbiosis of different electronic music styles in his works, thanks to his desire and ability to experiment with a lot of sounds. Using different synthesizers and all sorts of controllers, he opens new perspectives for his listeners. His collaborations include working with Kina Music, Neostrictly, Archipel, Sleep is Commercial, Diferit, Baile Music and Castanea. A more enigmatic appearance, Toi provides a perfect ending to this release, a useful vessel for various types of destinations on any dance-floor.

Herck opens Side A with “Intervilla”, a steady minimal rhythm with a focus on vocal samples and intricate build-ups. The background textures form a maze of notes, as the soft pads blend with elegance with the groovy percussion and the subtle punchy bassline. A2 is dispatched by Faster and delivers proper tech house sounds. The grungy bassline and the eerie textures of “Emotions Vest” reveal one layer after another, taking you on a journey.

On the flipside, Yaroslav Lenzyak presents “Foona”, a stripped-down minimalistic rhythm, spiced-up with immersive atmospheres and patterns, as well as a very funky bassline. Closing the wax, Toi presents “Polaris”, a deep and melodic composition, with swirling effects and bright pads that amaze and morph into mesmerizing sequences.
