Phil Rodriguez – Hold Me [Skyline Archive]

Phil Rodriguez presents “Hold Me,” a vocal-driven electronic composition released through Skyline Archive, the independent label he established in 2026 as a framework for connecting new productions with earlier recordings, visual material, memory and physical formats.

Operating as the melodic and emotionally open identity within the label, Phil Rodriguez works here with extended progression, spacious arrangement and a vocal positioned at the centre of the composition.

The track gradually unfolds rather than moving rapidly toward a conventional climax. Its rhythmic foundation maintains a steady club-oriented pulse while melodic layers enter with restraint, leaving considerable room in the arrangement for the vocal passages.

This emphasis on space becomes one of the most interesting elements of the production.

Instead of functioning as a separate topline, the voice shapes the movement of the instrumental itself. Repetition changes its context with each return, while the surrounding melodies progressively increase tension without overwhelming the central idea.

Rodriguez cites the emotional role of vocals in projects such as Delerium, Fragma and Chicane as part of the conceptual background to the track. The influence appears less in direct stylistic references than in the decision to treat the human voice as the emotional anchor of an electronic composition.

The project also reconnects with a much longer musical history.

In 1995, Phil Rodriguez released “Repetive” through Geckoo as GECK 003, later appearing on the Serious Beats 17 compilation. “Evolute” followed on Dance Opera, while “Closer” appeared through Indépendance Records and was subsequently released in Germany through Fog Area with a R.O.O.S. remix.

His current work through Skyline Archive places those earlier experiences inside a new structure.

The label uses two central production identities: Phil Rodriguez for its melodic, vocal and expansive material and Marc Henry for its rawer, more hypnotic and technically focused output. Other catalogue strands include Wippe Roma, whose material will also form part of the imprint’s first vinyl release.

“Hold Me” will next appear in physical form as “Hold Me (Original Club Mix)” on Side A of SALP 001, the first Skyline Archive vinyl release.

Mastering and lacquer cutting for the project have been entrusted to Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios in London, with the pressing planned at Record Industry in Haarlem.

With “Hold Me,” Phil Rodriguez brings a warm and emotionally direct approach to a production that remains firmly connected to the club, using long-form development and carefully managed space rather than immediate impact to establish its character.
