Vid – Higher Level [Artists From Nowhere Limited]

The 4th vinyl-only pressing brought forward by the Argentinian label Artists From Nowhere Limited features local artist Vid delivering four deep and elegant minimal techno cuts packed into “Higher Level” EP. The record highlights the artist’s fingerprint sound and definitely adds extra spice to the imprint’s discography, which debuted in 2021 with a mysterious release signed by an undisclosed artist, followed by equally impressive titles from Fluss (Deep Mariano, Franco Cinelli, Jorge Savoretti) and Never Alone In A Dark Room.

Widely known for his twisted take on minimal, Sorin Rastoaca aka Vid is a prominent figure in the underground electronic music scene for quite some time now, considering his constant stream of releases, DJ sets and memorable podcast recordings. From his own playground An|dromeda to Otaku Records, Hashplant, Visage LTD, UVAR, DUB Musik Limited, Rawax, Memoria Recordings, Brouqade, Pleasure Zone, Capodopere, Kontent and Purple Print (among others) he always delivered top-quality productions that challenge listeners to embrace a state of introspection strongly related to mindful dancing.

Connecting various artists and creative minds worldwide via seasoned vinyl and digital releases, carefully curated events and an engaging podcast series, AFNLTD fosters a platform dedicated to discovery and forward-thinking music, no doubt. Standing by for more!

The EP opens with the title track “Higher Level” unfolding a low-slung yet vibrant groove driven by shuffling percussion patterns and ever-evolving textures that seamlessly blend with off-kilter timing, only to snap back into place with precision. Subtle dark overtones and eerie vocal fragments weave through the mix, adding a sense of tension, while “Curtains Down” expands on this foundation, laying out a pulsating bassline and swirling effects that deepen the journey. The result is a fluid, late-night A-Side designed to sustain momentum and keep the dancefloor locked in motion.

On the flip, “Interstelar” shifts the mood, unveiling a spacious, almost weightless atmosphere anchored by its steady low-end drive. Here, airy pads and organic arrangements drift effortlessly around the rhythm, creating a sense of depth and openness. Closing the record, “3 AM” lounges further into the vibe, rendering a quintessential afterhours tool, stripped down to the genre’s finest nuances and imbued with a hypnotic swing perfectly suited for those final moments before dawn.
