Evgheniia & Shaun Reeves – Solutions EP (w. Mathew Jonson, Andrey Pushkarev, Apoteoz remixes) [Yecad]

The next instalment in Yecad‘s vinyl-only series showcases the latest collaboration between Evgheniia and Shaun Reeves titled “Solutions”, with Mathew Jonson, Andrey Pushkarev and Apoteoz delivering inspiring remixes to complement the original track. The release highlights each artist’s distinct style, forming an organic body of work designed to resonate across different moments on the dancefloor, with the mastering provided by Justin Drake.

Formerly known as Jay Medvedeva, Berlin-based DJ and producer Evgheniia has built a reputation for her deep and minimal house sound, with productions released on Decay Records, Kindisch and trueColors, as well as a steady stream of podcasts and club performances marked by driving rhythms, ethereal textures, meandering vocals and subtle piano flourishes. For “Solutions”, she teams up with Shaun Reeves of Visionquest, a key figure in the international underground scene esteemed for his discographic history, which includes titles dropped on labels like Raum…Music, Wolf + Lamb, Shantu, One Records, Moscow Records, Convent and Infolines, among others.

The British imprint Yecad was launched in 2023 by Davide Zambetta and Albi with a focus on promoting top-quality electronic music rooted in the underground movement. The debut release, a standout Various Artists compilation featuring Sepp, Vlad Arapasu, Swoy and Ted Amber was elegantly followed by memorable EPs from Dragutesku, Constratti, Barac, Bryz and Dana Ruh.

The original cut delivers a vibrant yet steady-paced sound, as the slightly glitched percussive patterns smoothly blend with a weaving bassline, warm synth melodies and heavily modulated vocal inserts that add an extra layer of groove to the journey. The breakdowns are carefully placed to create tension, while the bpm makes this piece perfect for peak-time moments at any party. Following on Side A, Mathew Jonson‘s remix infuses the original with a subtle big room vibe, enhancing the resonance of all the layers while adding an evolving reverberation focused on Evgheniia’s vocals that just waits for a drop to come in.

As we switch to the B-Side, we first find Andrey Pushkarev delivering a dub-infused reinterpretation built around elastic basslines, hazy background textures and drifting echoes that give the track a deeper, more meditative feel, while Apoteoz brings a warm, jazzy vibe to the table, that blends smoky chords and subtle piano phrases with a downtempo rhythm, suitable for late-night sessions.
