Berlin-based artist Frank Bogdanowitz, better known as Dr.Nojoke, celebrates two decades of his forward-thinking CLIKNO imprint with the launch of a new series titled Cliknopium. The first chapter arrives as a limited-edition vinyl release complemented by a digital version, setting the tone for a milestone project that reflects 20 years of uncompromising sonic exploration. The material features three immersive tracks rooted in minimal and deep electronica, mastered by Mike Grinser at Manmade Mastering.

Founded in 2005, CLIKNO has built its identity on reshaping the overlooked sounds of everyday life into finely tuned electronic microcosms. At its core lies a firm manifesto: no presets, no templates, no vintage machines, with every element sculpted from scratch. This philosophy has shaped the artist’s unmistakable aesthetic, one defined by meticulous attention to detail, tactile textures and intricate rhythmic structures, where precision engineering meets a subtle, ever-present sense of unpredictability.

Well known for his distinct approach to music making, Dr.Nojoke has steadily built a consistent and inspiring discography over the years, seamlessly weaving together influences from musique concrète, dada, minimalism, kraut, dub, polyrhythms and field recordings to create timeless, organic soundscapes that feel both conceptually rigorous and deeply introspective. Aside from CLIKNO, he published some of his works via labels like Archipel, Sleep Is Commercial, Klangscheiben, Goldmin, Pluie/Noir, Saraw, Miden, Ukiyo and Clonk Records, among others. He’s also half of rand, alongside pianist Jan Gerdes, a live performance project that explores the connection between the classical and contemporary aspects of various musical genres.

Cliknopium I opens with “Treguja”, a stripped-down composition driven by a quirky interplay of bleeps and glitches that form its core rhythmic patterns, while the background pads remain elusive, evoking the mysterious atmosphere of a clandestine backyard rave. Following, “Gragada” plunges deep into dub territory, layering recordings of chirping birds with ethereal, floating chords that drift and unfold like fragments of a long-lost paradise, conjuring a sense of nostalgia, serenity and otherworldly calm.

On the flipside, our featured premiere for today, “Wesikwa”, propels the listener into a dreamlike state of mind, unfolding a hypnotic groove driven by a pulsating beat set at 120 BPM, a wobbling bassline, resonating Jew’s harp touches and ever-shifting atmospheres built from heavily modulated vocals, invoking a sense of trance-like meditation.
