For the third chapter in its discography, NY-based label Samsara Music hands the reins to Arutani. Titled “Earth Below”, the release is built around hypnotic structures, melodic development and gradual progression. The tracks unfold with a consistent sense of motion, allowing themes to evolve, connect and resolve across the record. Each piece stands on its own while contributing to a cohesive whole, emphasising flow, continuity and focus over contrast, creating an immersive and compelling experience.

Born in Venezuela, raised in Switzerland and now based in Germany, Arutani crafted his own signature sound from an early stage in his career. Reduced yet sonically expansive, his music channels the golden era of minimal through a refined, personal interpretation. Subtle and intricately detailed, it can feel dark at times while remaining radiant and uplifting. His artist name references the almost extinct Arutani language spoken by natives in Roraima, Brazil and in the Karum River area of Bolivar State, Venezuela.

The journey starts with the title track “Earth Below” laying out a warm sound led by steady-paced drumming patterns which elegantly intertwine with lush dub chords, meandering textures and carefully placed breakdowns that smoothly glide into “Grain”, expanding the sonic manifold into a feeling of vastness as evolving melodies gently rise and fall, grounding the listener in a meditative state. Following, “Disintegration” slides into a higher tempo, revealing a mesmerising composition that blurs the line between techno, ambient and deep electronica.

On the flipside we first find “On The Street” keeping the beat rolling while the background atmosphere dives into nostalgia, as scattered piano notes and ethereal vocals create a hypnotising affair. Next, “Moments” gracefully switches gears to a breakbeat-infused soundscape that feels like a daydream, giving the album a well-deserved breathing moment that seems to build and release tension at the same time, while the closing cut “Eternal” wraps it all up in a haze of alluring frequencies that incorporate vocal samples by Jiddu Krishnamurti reflecting on the nature of God, eternity and human nature.
