NTFO – Derivat EP [Sintope Vinyl Series]

Romanian artists NTFO return to their label’s main vinyl series with “Derivat EP”, delivering a solid minimal sound that marks the 23rd entry in the catalogue, as well as the duo’s final release.

Over the years, NTFO have built a distinct legacy through a consistent run of releases on their label and other imprints like SK Supreme Records, Gruuv, Kiara Records, AdMaiora Music, Constant Sound, Organic-Music, Aku, Bondage Music and Bread And Butter Recordings, while performing at numerous events and delivering inspiring podcasts that left a lasting mark on both the Romanian and global minimal scenes.

Launched in 2008 in Timisoara, Romania, as a digital label, Sintope steadily grew into an international platform, catching the attention of many DJs and producers worldwide. In 2010, Sintope Vinyl Series debuted with NTFO‘s “Adjective” EP, followed by timeless 12″ titles signed by artists like Sammy W & Alex E, The Mekanism, Rhadow, Barac under his nSd moniker, Bodeler & Saenz, Remus, Barut, Lumieux, Gabriele Mancino, Dinghy’s head chef Aron and Miroloja, among others.

Side A is reserved for the title track “Derivat”, a warm and vibrant composition designed with steady-paced drums, a pulsating bassline, flickering background melodies and lush breakdowns that bring meandering vocals into sharp focus. On the flipside we first find “Circulara”, a stripped-back cut powered by shuffling percussion, wobbling basslines and gliding breakdowns, while “Inxxs” closes the EP with a raw, driving vibe perfect for late-night sessions on the dancefloor. A must-have record right here for collectors, selectors and electronic music enthusiasts alike.
